She was such a joy and an absolute super mom in supporting the three chicks. Really enjoyed hanging inside the nest and had so many playful moments with the dork of a dad. Left me with a lot of memories to remember. Fly high beautiful owl, wherever you are.

I do miss Athena a lot. It was a beautiful season last winter, raising 3 chicks with Boreas as my first time nest watching. I really was looking forward to this year as well, but I guess she was lost at some point. Hasn't come to the nest for over a month and a new female is now around 😔

After another hiatus, Jormag Rising story complete. Aside from Drizzlewood Coast as a continuous meta map being exhausting, it was good storywise. Still got a couple more achievements to collect for Chapter Mastery, so gotta tolerate the map a bit more, but chievos don't look too bad.

That she recognized dad being off breeding cycle & maintained her trust in him based on previous year, when everyone including professors expected her to abandon nest... Seeing her in such conditions, wet under rain, physically hurt, broke my heart. But she knew. We saw it all come to fruition 🥹

I was always stuck between Athena & Aphrodite for mom. So caring & full of life like the Anatolian Aphrodite, so wise* & refuses to give up hope like Athena, giving her all no matter what. I went with Athena. Her unusual extra effort to keep #3 alive & succeed was nothing short of a miracle.

Come November, I'll start using names I gave them ☺️ I call dad Boreas. Enjoys cold, as reckless/free as north wind, equally providing/relentless. Exclusively hunted XL Prey but after a 2-day cold period, brought 3 S prey, 1 for each owlet to ensure their survival, before continuing with L ones.

The children have dispersed about a month ago now and the nest is silent, which feels very lonely. Can't describe how it feels 😭 Dad slowly started coming back to rest in, so mom should return soon. Hopefully, despite him having a late cycle causing mishaps, mom will trust dad for a 3rd year!

They all behave so much like their mom, but especially #3 turned out to be a carbon copy. Almost as if she recognized how well she was supported and hopefully, she'll be as caring as mom when she becomes one herself, somewhere else. Wish I'd be able to see her tappy dances again 🥹 P1&2 #3 P3&4 Mom

The entire family was so unique. A dorky and awkward dad who turned out to be a master hunter, a super caring mom who spent ~2 weeks extra in the nest to take care of the heavily underdeveloped 3rd chick rather than giving up, older siblings who prioritized #3 getting fed on cold nights...

It's so bittersweet, but I'm really happy. It's been since November I've been following the nest. I watched mom give up on the first set of eggs due to lack of prey, the second clutch being born into a massive coldwave and the third chick barely surviving. But they made it and no longer return.

A young fledgeling from outside arrived in Nest 2 last night. Looked extremely tired and after a brief tussle, the nest accepted them in. Does bring some tears, like a "What If" of the youngest sibling still being around🥹

I was genuinely scared the past 2 days due to the extreme cold wave, fearing a repeat of the youngest owlet of nest 2 who tried so hard to hold onto life. Dad seemed aware yesterday was dire and came early with 2 emergency prey drops, then a full rabbit, and followed up with 2 more prey. Incredible

3rd owlet arrived late yesterday! Oldest one is already so large, and it likes to hug everything around. It's nice to see them bunched up together. It's been cold, so mom is keeping them carefully under herself without almost any breaks, so her stretch flight was the only time we got to see them

Her second owlet has been born today! I was too busy at work that I missed it sadly, but I'm so happy for mom (and dad) who went through so much, yet kept their trust in each other to make it work! 🥹 2 more hatches to go, and then it's all about taking care of them!

Little one is gone. I feel sick... Kept going day after day, survived beyond what anyone expected despite all cards stacked against it. But the best isn't always enough. Gonna take a break until the knot in my stomach goes away

Safely made it to the night, was a bit more active/reactive during the day compared to yesterday. Constantly hugging the oldest owlet, who seems to be more gentle in general as well. I'll hope for the best that he can beat the odds, it's been soulcrushing as is 😔🙏

I've been focusing on Nest 1 because Nest 2 was looking grim after 3 days of a cold front, affecting tonight as well. Everyone had already written off the little guy, but he made it through tonight as well, getting some nibbles. He likely won't make it through the day. I feel crushed. Valiant...

Both nests feeling the effects of the prey shortage atm. Rain and weather that hasn't quite shaken off the cold wave is making things a bit tight... Dad brought 2 prey for mom early night, but towards the morning after a long rain, unable to hunt, he had to take the second one away for himself 😔

Oof, what a rough night... Cold and foggy, terrible conditions for hunting. Nest 2 with 4 hatchlings also had a severe prey shortage. Dad wasn't generally in the mood either. He still came in with a clutch, half an hour before sun up, with another large prey for mom. She's comfy & resting now!

The less I have to say, the better it is, the duo are properly in breeding cycle so everything is running smoothly! It seems dad didn't have a favorable night with his hunting given his overall behavior, but still prioritized giving prey to mom her minimum of 2 per night! Happy for the two 🥰

So, Drizzlewood Coast... Beautiful, but overwhelming. I don't know whether it's the constant Meta or the WvW style map (probably both), but it stresses me out, leaving me at a constant feel of urgency... Last I felt this was Dragon's Stand, which I ended up not doing the Mastery for 😭 #GuildWars2

Nice and comfy night for floofy mom. Was a bit curious by the firework sounds at midnight, but is ready for Egg#3 if it is due for today. Dad was kind enough to bring a rabbit as a feast for her, so definitely satisfied and sleeping comfortably now.

Dad was very considerate tonight, even though most of the time mom thought he was trying to steal the gifts left behind... It seemed like he was trying to bring them closer to mom and cache them next to the eggs for her convenience. Also lots of floofball sleep mode. These dorks 🦉🦉
