The Sunken
Boundless, Crushing, Unfathomable

Deep beneath the ocean are places long forgotten by time, preserved by sea salt and crushing pressure. It is difficult to know what may lie waiting beneath the waves, be it the wreckage of a ship, the remains of a lost civilization, or an air pocket concealing even greater mysteries. Whether for study or greed or glory, your crew has boarded your vessel and descended into the depths, but found something even your best approximations couldn’t anticipate. The Sunken aids the Leviathan.

When the Sunken is selected, answer the following questions as a group:
- What is the vessel you are using to access the Sunken? What did you come down here to find?
- What landmarks appeared on your initial scans that you are using to triangulate your location?
- Do you have equipment capable of venturing outside your vessel? When was its last maintenance?

The Station
Isolated, Airtight, Rational

In the void, no one can hear you scream. The Station is a research facility in orbit around a planet that may or may not be our own. Systems are self-sustaining, autonomous and maintained by an on-board AI within the ship’s master computer. Life on the station is truly the most remote experience imaginable: your nearest neighbor may be light years away, and there is nothing outside your door but empty space. The Station aids the Alien and the Artificial.

When the Station is selected, answer the following questions as a group:
- The station was commissioned and put in place by a Company. What is the Company, and what does it specialize in?
- What phenomenon was the station constructed to observe?
- What luxury was your team afforded to make your time on the station more comfortable?
- How long has your team resided on the station, and how long until you are relieved of duty?
- What is the artificial intelligence that maintains the station?

The Mine
Labyrinthian, Claustrophobic, Precarious

Long ago, the mine was an economic powerhouse in this region, exporting valuable gems or ore to put coins into the pockets of its owner. Years after its final closure after a disaster rendered it unsafe for work, the mineshaft remains, its tunnels running like veins throughout the countryside. Do riches remain, or something worse? The Mine aids the Foreman.

When the Mine is selected, answer the following questions as a group:
- What was mined here, and what effect did that have on the local economy? What about the ecology?
- Who profited most from the mine’s business, and who was most affected by its closure?
- What disaster occurred that caused the mine to close? What aftereffects continue to this day?
- Which of you is claustrophobic? Which of you is afraid of the dark? Do you know this yet, or will you learn it during the hunt?

“And, should I indulge myself, your vision of the future will not change?”
Athena’s mouth thins. “The story remains unchanged, in the wider scheme of things. But I would need to consult my oracles to grasp the full scope of your actions.”
Poseidon hates to wait for results. She does not answer, and instead kicks the prisoner across the face with a snap of her leg that cracks like the surf breaking against rocks. The sound echoes, bouncing around the dome. Athena does not flinch even as the body coughs another liter of seawater, blood, and bile, which pools together at the foot of the throne.
“You will not mind, then, observing while I enact punishment? Your insights are always so enlightening.”

Pallas Athena’s grey gaze extends, endless and piercing, throughout Elysium.
She is woven into the data structure of the city, and its network flows through her. Every scrap of digital information that is passed between its citizens will be caught in Athena’s grey gaze, studied, analyzed, and spat out. Just as Poseidon has her trawlers and nereids who endlessly comb the ocean floor, Athena has her robotic owls that secure their borders and far beyond Wall Caryatid, her endless data centers, her informant networks and spies among the populace, security drones emblazoned with her eyes and imbued with her vision, her oracle system. Datascraping is so much more fruitful for the people of Elysium as well as for the Twelve’s control, an assertion she calmly maintains during meetings when the allocation of resources is questioned. Poseidon only ever produces fish.

Posiedon’s domain, perpetually rain-slicked and encrusted with salt, is the last circle of Elysium before the darkness of the Underworld.
Down amidst the docks and warehouses, the absentee lord of the oceans provides a plentiful bounty of fresh fish for Elysium’s people daily, which is processed, packaged and shipped to every circle of the city. As Athena’s owls and spies observe and send information back to their watchful lord on high, Poseidon’s nereids report back the comings and goings of the city and its gods to their distant lord. They are empowered with the voice of the sea god, and speak with the will of the ocean at their back. Elysium’s fate relies on compliance with their demands, safe trade routes and open supply lines, lest their people lose a valuable food source. The city balances on the edge of a knife: on one side, waves of colossi crash and break against the edifice of Wall Caryatid, while the uncaring ocean roils with unknown terrors on the other. There is only one among the Twelve who can quell the storms and brave the seas, and she is given ample leeway by the King. Poseidon’s ceaseless efforts keep their populace fed, happy, and functional. Athena only ever manifests data.

Absolutely adore this TTRPG - the base concept from Avery is ingenious and Emmeryn has executed it spectacularly. This game is stylish, oozes with atmosphere, and is really easy to pick up and get into. Some of the rules I find need a little 'filling in the blanks' but nothing game-breaking. My partner and I are about 5 sessions deep into our current playthrough and have yet to make it to even dusk - there's lots of room to expand this into more play sessions and some of the set up really does amazing work at encouraging good tensions and character building that gives you lots to explore.

Easily one of my fave TTRPGs to date.

Wrote up some descriptions for the cover of my GO fic and I am hyped for my girl (the other character on the cover is too much of a spoiler to share)

Athena: Appears as an ethereal human woman, roughly 4 or 5 meters tall (but this varies), with brown skin and dark hair worn in a warrior's braid. She is inhumanly flawless and immaculate, without a blemish or scar, and handsome in the face. She is unlikely to be emoting, as she is depicted as incredibly even tempered and difficult to read (we stan an autistic queen). She is wearing a chestplate of gleaming silver armor with the designs of birds in flight etched into the filigree, with a matching helm that features wings on either side of her head. This helm shouldn't cover her most striking feature, which is her eyes, which have an eagles sharpness to them. Her pupils are piercing and glow an iridescent silver, with fragments of data passing in front of them, as if she is seeing digital information. She has little need for wearing makeup with how flawless she appears, though she does decorate around her eyes to give them a more pronounced, sharper appearance, but she is first and foremost a warrior. I don't imagine there is enough space on the cover to represent her weaponry, but if there is she wields a flawless silver winged spear, as well as an ornately crafted shield with an owl's eyes depicted in its center, as this is her emblem. She should draw largely from bird imagery, though her braid can appear to have elements of a snake to it as foreshadowing. Speaking of foreshadowing, maybe she should

Sharing what came out of nowhere and landed as my favorite scene, the one that truly knocked the wind out of me: old woman yuri, because that paragraph might be the most romantic way to describe an old flame that I've ever read. Really hoping for more of these two in the next anthology

Extremely frustrating because Ryan understands the fundamental concept, to the point where we're saying the same exact thing but are drawing two wildly different conclusions from it. He looks at this and sees a conveyor belt going into a machine and out the other side and thinks "This could be AI"

The gaming industry doesn't exist because humans create otherwise unobtainable ideas. It exists because many many previous games exist, feed into the minds of designers, who produce new variants on those themes.
