Humanity never seems to enter the conversation. It is a little funny that if I get hurt in the first two months back at work after a long absence, I basically have to die or spend eternity in debt. I expect the state will need to bury my enormous corpse (no next of kin). Cold comfort. 😅

Taking time off for appointments is suicide for a woman in the trades, so I have to cram everything into those two months. I mitigate this partially by subscribing to PlushCare. $20 per month. Doctor "visits" (tele-med) are $125, but they can refill my prescriptions-- old drugs (cheaper).

People in other countries must find the American medical industry so confusing. If I don't work, two months later, my medical insurance evaporates and I have to pay out of pocket. My job is hard labor.

I am 100 times healthier now than I was in my twenties; I'm much smarter and I can do far more things. I'm not as hot because I'm nearly 50 and my life has not gone as planned, but I am healthy and happy and I don't need to suffer with you.

People make comments about my body and I explain that I'm happy with it-- it does what I need it to do (a lot, considering my profession) and they go on the offensive, like I need to be taken down a notch because I'm not trying to shrink. You're not concerned and my health is none of your business.

I'm tired of being made to feel like I got divorced incorrectly because my body size hasn't changed much. I'm tired of people classifying people as either 1) hot or 2) overweight, and I'm just just saying that because I'm a giant who likes a little extra guy on my guys.

Apprentices are taught by an organization that includes NECA-- basically the contractors. They get little to no education about how the union works. The only person who taught that is now ousted, with all the other women, POC and other sane people. They won't put me on the committee. I am anarchy.

Got home, limped to the mailbox, answered my phone. Mum. Asked her to hold for a second while I stripped in the mud room and tried to brush the concrete off myself. Laid down in front of a fan, still filthy, and did two hours of tech support. Hot pot can wait another day. Ordered a pizza.
