one of my favorite things about the Spinal Blade is that it reveals that necromancers are the real sickos. "Necromancers loathe yet covet these blades" OK, sure it's made from my spine, but also...that is kinda cool! I want it.

#Morktober 7 -Fog Petrichorpse "A profane place releases more than petrichor after enduring a long rain. Malevolence spirits rise from the soil, forming a sentient violet mist. Corpses rise under the fog’s command, to slay the living so their corpse is bound to will of their master."

The Petrichorpse is immortal, but will disperse until the next rainfall if all fogbound corpses within it are destroyed. The petrichorpse typically has 2d4 fogbound at any one time.

For me, it would be a great way to incentivize and pay black artists to do more TTRPG work (I already have a list of people I'd ask) and also make waaay easier for people to, say...find stock of a black man/woman space pilot, which is RIDICULOUSLY hard to find in 2026.

I know artists can just sell their own stock art! But the thinking here is that they get paid up front for it and then make money off of the sales. The value proposition as I see it for buyers is a) curated stock art from great artists b) themed - scifi, grimdark, etc c) we can guarantee no AI BS

OK, ready? What I want to do is come up with a theme for a stock art collection. I commission artists for work in the collection, and then we distribute/sell the stock art (with the artists names and info). Once we've recouped basic costs, we do a royalty split for the collection with the artists.

So, the reason I made this post: I have a model in mind that I want to put forth to the the visual artists and other creators in my feed. I want to know: - is it feasible and fair as a visual artist? as a creator looking for stock? - Is there a better model/structure already out there I can use?

...and I know that I'm not alone! But that means it is difficult for an indie working with small or non-existent budgets to feasibly do that work and provide those visuals. (Here is the point where ppl are going to refer to a few isolated things. That's great, but there is still significant gap)

What I'd like to do with Thoughtcrime is to make afro-fantasy/future/grimdark/whatever stock art more available to ppl. It becomes a sel-reinforcing cycle: every time I want to do something in TTRPGs, it is easy to find plentiful sources until I want black faces, then... it gets difficult.

I need a source of grimdark afro-fantasy stock assets, and it is very impossible to find. (I am doing this for a freebie side project (Morktober), so I am not asking for comms atm)

definitely not! It's made from a necromancer's spine, and can suck the marrow from enemies, which it uses to sustain the user, which it drains of marrow slowly.
