New SFX repack for the 1993 DOS game Dinopark Tycoon. A business sim with some chill background music that was hard to appreciate because of the wildly loud sound samples. gamedevjeff.pixelturkey.com/dinopark/SND... (DOS . exe only, runs under DOSBox after unzipping in the game's directory)

Saving this 2004 smoking etiquette campaign signage as a reference for when I get around to working on a 3D environment set in a Tokyo-like city - source: www.tokyotimes.org/smoking-mann...
Signage from a Japanese smoking-etiquette sign, "The cool cowboy flicks his cigarette butt intot he street. But he lives in an old movie." It's instrumented with a diagram showing that such a practice was only in an old movie, and representing a long time ago.Signage from a Japanese smoking-etiquette sign, "When I bumped into someone, I apologized. When my smoke hit your face, I said nothing". It's instrumented with a diagram showing walking and bumping apology, and no consequent apology for smoke bumping.Signage from a Japanese smoking-etiquette sign,"The cigarette butts are always more noticeable when I'm walking my dog." It's instrumented with a person who is aware, walking a dog on leash, a cigarette and an ant on a street.Signage from a Japanese smoking-etiquette sign, "I threw my cigarette butt into the drain. That is to say I hid it int he drain." It's instrumented with a diagram showing a person above-ground, the sewer below, and a rat shocked/aggrieved by the presence of the discarded cigarette butt.

This is a game collection, right? 🥹
Photo of a software big box "Over 300 Education, Games and business programs for the whole family." "Save Hard Disk space with our easy-t-use de-install topion, or play direct from CD." "Learn as you play" There are road signs explaining the genre of programs set to a picture of somewhere in remote outback Australia. The shrink plastic is still on the box.

Reminded myself of VGA overscan when testing a game build. The 1st palette index would set border colour, be that black or no. Here's Crystal Caves, early 1990s DOS game on IBM ThinkPad 1450 (Tillamook Pentium MMX 266MHz · Neomagic MagicGraph128XD) and a Trinitron E230 CRT #retrocomputing #DOSgaming
Here's Crystal Caves, an early 1990s DOS game running on my IBM ThinkPad 1450 (Tillamook Pentium MMX 266MHz · Neomagic MagicGraph128XD) and a Trinitron E230 CRT. There are 4 stitched together photos of the CRT on a desk next to the laptop. The photos show the VGA overscan border in red on game start and green in-level when all crystals are collected.

Wanting to apply any retroarch shader to arbitrary X11 Window contents on Linux to test CRT + upscaling on test art/gamedev WIPs, I created a retroarch core called Xcompy as a quick hack to do just that. Scroll through open windows with mouse-wheel. github.com/DOSisGOOD/xc... #linux
A screenshot of a screenshot of Warrior Blade III 1992 Arcade by Taito, with a CRT shader applied using XCompy, with the original screenshot window below it. Ignore the fact that the window title says Retroarch Xcomposite, I later renamed it to XCompy to make it more unique, as while it uses XComposite, it might be confusing to just call the core that.A screenshot of the RetroArch XCompy core rendering the contents of the DOSBox-X window running Commander Keen 6 by ID Software, with a bezel shader effect (I know DOSBox-X has shader support), and the original DOSBox-X window below it.
