This past week Spain commemorated the memory of a great Canadian anti-fascist fighter. Niilo Makela was from my hometown. At 21 he gave his life fighting for the liberty of the Spanish people. Israel's massive publicity machine cannot cover up the deliberate killing and mass starvation of civilians. Nobody is buying their line anymore. Canada must move beyond hand-wringing and impose serious sanctions. We must support the international criminal court in going after the war criminals.
