October Company Update: Hot As Hell www.gaiaonline.com/forum/items-...

Greetings, Gaians!

Spooky Season is upon us! And just in time, too, because it's hot as hell around here, and we could really use a chill or two to keep us cool.

Lanzer has been carefully monitoring platinum payouts for a while now. And with the information he's gathered, he's found a better balance for the system. What that means for you is a bump in earnings starting this week! He will, of course, continue to keep an eye on things and make further adjustments as needed.

In between continuing work on the site redesign project, we're still making time to consider and implement smaller quality of life updates based on requests. Some have already been implemented (e.g. forum search) while others are still being evaluated and planned out (e.g. inventory filters). Otherwise, we're still trying to get a handle on the 403 errors that have been affecting some users.

Overall, we're trying to make minor improvements as we can while still making progress towards are larger goals. And that's all for now. Hope your month is more treat than trick!

New Rare Event!

Be on the lookout for the newest rare event: the Plat Cat!

If you see this little guy flying around your screen, give them a pet (click) to collect your prize.

Plat Cat can be opened from the special tab of your inventory. Every Plat Cat contains a minimum of 1000 platinum. If you're extra lucky, you could find up to 10,000 platinum!

With the addition of the Plat Cat, we are officially retiring Pink Links. You will no longer be able to find them around the site but you can still open any existing ones in your inventory.

If you're one of our dedicated fishers who keeps a fishing window/tab open for extremely long periods of time (eg: days), we recommend saving your bucket and closing your current fishing window/tab and opening a new one and even restarting your browser to ensure a smooth experience from now onwards.

The update affects forums, guilds, username, interests, and favorites, but not item search. Item search currently uses a different search system and we're working on updating item search so that it'll work the same way as well as search for item tags. Stay tuned for more updates!

Now we need to find more optimized systems for our ever growing inventories! Thank you for your patience as we continue to update our backend! www.gaiaonline.com/forum/gaia-c...

030

Gaia Online @gaiaonline.com · 13/07/2026

In the near future we will move inventory data to a different database system with faster sorting abilities. We had came a long way from the time when we optimized our system so that inventory with 20k items would load in a few seconds instead of a minute to load.

100

Gaia Online @gaiaonline.com · 13/07/2026

Unfortunately as a result, saving changes when moving inventory items now takes longer, and there will be a cooldown period to prevent duplicate attempts. Just in case the new system have any bugs or issues, please save a snapshot of your inventory before arranging your items.

100

Gaia Online @gaiaonline.com · 13/07/2026

Inventory re-sort update In response to the recent database problems, we re-worked how item sorting is handled. Instead of trying to update a whole inventory which could be 150k+ items, we now split updates into smaller chunks to prevent large updates from slowing down the whole system.

170

Gaia Online @gaiaonline.com · 12/07/2026

Please feel free to ask in our Pre-AtS thread and we'll pass your question along to that team! www.gaiaonline.com/forum/gaia-c...

Please use the search feature to locate your new items. Inventory sorting will return later tonight once the new algorithm is complete. Thank you for your patience!

231

Gaia Online @gaiaonline.com · 12/07/2026

But while we work the fix, some Gaians with more than 80k items in your inventory will have item-resort disabled for the next few hours. This means your new items might not be on the very last slot in your inventory, but might be on the second last page instead.

130

Gaia Online @gaiaonline.com · 12/07/2026

We're now re-designing the sorting mechanism to avoid locking up the database during re-sort. Once completed, we should be free of this issue.

130

Gaia Online @gaiaonline.com · 12/07/2026

In further investigation we found that Gaia's inventory systems are being stressed when inventories are being sorted. Turns out some Gaians now have over 150k items in their inventories, and any re-sort functions lock up the database table for just long enough to cause some serious traffic jams.

140

Gaia Online @gaiaonline.com · 12/07/2026

Inventory re-sort is disabled for some users In the past few days Gaia had been experiencing some periodic slow down and errors when it comes to inventory and marketplace, but would extend to features such as forum posting. We've since upgraded our database servers but the issue continued.
