I don't know if it's one of your inspirations, but I'm reminded of Space Station Silicon Valley for the N64 The game is all about taking control of robotic animals kitted out with wheels, wings, cannons and stuff. The cartoony physics in your video is very reminiscent of some of SSSV's movement tech

I've also learnt to enjoy creating at a much smaller scale. A 3D print project for my mum. Jamming by myself and unpatching before I'm tempted to record. A hastily thrown together Mörk Borg dungeon for the weekend. Homebrew TTRPGs fine-tuned for the local meetup or my regular play group.

I've been feeling unmoored from who I once was, but I don't really feel a desire to go back. I'm learning to live more in the here and now, spending time with friends IRL. I'll be forty years old this year, and I'm still trying to figure out who I'm supposed to be.

I'm not posting much these days. I've almost completely disconnected from the video game & digital art scenes, and have mostly been out of work since my burnout. On the work side I'm looking at switching to a different job entirely, not sure what yet. Otherwise I've been messing with TTRPGs

Also, if you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend Guillaume Singelin's graphic novel, Frontier I love the way it portrays life in space, food, agriculture, social spaces, etc... It's also a lovely story about community and solidarity in the face of uncaring capitalism

A great TTRPG-ish reference for "group decision marking" that isn't just voting is "The Quiet Year": buriedwithoutceremony.com/the-quiet-year Players take turns adding elements to the story. Additions can't be contested, there's just a simple "Contempt Token" system to show disapproval.

Text from The Quiet Year rulebook:

Contempt Tokens
If ever you feel like you weren’t consulted or honoured in a decision-making process, you can take a piece of Contempt and place it in front of you. This is how we express disagreement or tension. If someone makes a statement or starts a project that you don’t agree with, you don’t get to speak out of turn. You are instead invited to take a piece of Contempt.

Contempt will generally remain in front of players until the end of the game. It will act as a reminder of past tensions.

If someone else does something that you greatly support, that would mend relationships and rebuild trust, you can discard a Contempt Token to show that they have healed past tensions.

agreed! my boyfriend and i found these five kittens and their mum in a bush, covered in grime we found loving homes for all of them. they're healthy and happy, and we kept in touch with their new families, which means we regularly receive photos of them, prolonging the magic!

This has me thinking about how much I love mysterious and undocumented features in creative tools. For instance this synth module that has two "!!¡¡" inputs that are never explained. Reviewers said that the sound changes when they're activated, but they don't really know what they actually do...

Messing with my nebulabrot renderer. In this variant, the orbits are coloured similarly to a standard Mandelbrot fractal. The same colour is used along the whole orbit, depending on the length of the orbit.

He likes a lot of attention, and he's more playful than her, so she's often evasive around him, and complains when he's too insistent on playing, but they like each other, and she likes to hang out in the same room as him. If he's particularly calm, she'll even sit next to him from time to time.

One other cat, Patoune. They already knew each other somewhat, since she would play outside and run into him quite often. She didn't like most of the other cats in the neighborhood but she put up with Bounty, and given her usually standoffish behaviour, we interpreted that as reluctant approval

That's how we ended up with this fluffball. He kept hanging out in our garden, spending nights under the awning. We managed to get in touch with the owner, once, who told us he'd escaped. We offered to bring him over when we next saw him. They never responded after that. He's my buddy now!

Adriel got me Frontier by Guillaume Singelin. Singelin is the character artist for Citizen Sleeper, and this graphic novel was written at about the same time and has similar vibes. An anticapitalist tale of blue collar workers trying to make a life for themselves in space.
