I was shocked to hear about the fire in Collingwood on the weekend. Events like this can make us all feel unsafe, so my thoughts are with the neighbouring residents and businesses. If you know anything about the incident please call Crimestoppers on 1800333000. And look out for each other.

The Greens will fight to stop the demolition, and double the number of public homes in Victoria. Because that’s what we need to tackle the housing crisis. Not more privatisation.

Community housing isn't the same as public housing. It’s more expensive and less secure. Now we know: residents in community housing are 3 times more likely than public housing residents to face eviction.

Artists deserve to have their intellectual property protected. Labor has been pandering to big tech giants, and now they’re trying to blackmail the Government into selling out creatives. We need a moratorium on new data centres and clear protections for artists, communities and nature.

Labor’s approach to crime & safety isn’t working. Despite more police than any other state & doubling funding, people don't feel safer. 2 local police stations will close to divert police onto the street. Police are stretched because they have to respond to situations that shouldn’t be for police.

It is unconscionable that after two years of investigating, the IDF authorities have cleared themselves of any wrongdoing. Zomi Frankcom and her family deserve justice, not another strongly worded statement. Labor must sanction Israel, end the two-way arms trade and expel the Israeli ambassador.

It’s good to see unions backing public housing and longer leases. With Vic Labor planning to demolish all 44 of Melbourne’s public housing towers and refusing to reign in skyrocketing rents, it's more important than ever to fight to defend public housing and make renting fair.

Gabrielle de Vietri MP @gabrielledevietri.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
The Greens have a plan to double public housing in Victoria. While longer leases help renters, we also need to freeze & cap rent increases so landlords don’t just jack up the rent to force tenants out.

It takes courage to walk out of school and stare down the politics of hate. Young people are refusing to sit quietly while politicians trash their future. The Greens will always stand with students who organise, strike and raise hell for a better world.

One Nation is on the march. Racism, homophobia, sexism dragged back into the mainstream Years of Labor inaction on housing, cost of living, rising inequality created the conditions for this. While Labor and the Liberals chase Hanson in a race to the bottom, young people are organising to fight back

Today I released the Greens' fully costed plan to rebuild our community health centre in Collingwood. Just $42 million with 50 co-located homes for people with complex health needs (Labor just spent 10x that on a Grand Prix corporate stand).

Tonight, Yarra City Council might cancel e-bikes, removing yet another clean transport option for residents. Last year, the Mayor & Labor Deputy Mayor cancelled scooters, now the council are going further. While the rest of the world is embracing e-bikes and cycling, in Yarra we're going backwards.

The only way to tackle the housing crisis is to end investor handouts, cap rents and build public housing. Only the Greens have the guts to do what it takes.

Gabrielle de Vietri MP @gabrielledevietri.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
The Greens’ rent reforms, vacancy tax and Airbnb regulations in Victoria are the only reason Melbourne is now the cheapest capital to rent in. Imagine what real rent caps would do. The Greens' plan: cap rent increases, end the tax handouts to property investors and build public housing at scale.
071
Gabrielle de Vietri MP @gabrielledevietri.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
None of this is an accident. It's a policy choice. Labor continues to offer renters nothing while allowing property investors to profit. No rent caps. No new public homes.

Melbourne rents just hit a record $600 a week. Rental arrears spiking. Renters telling reporters they're choosing between food and a safe home.

But months after promising to shut down organised crime and illegal tobacco trade down, the government still hasn't delivered. Every delay leaves our community exposed. If you're worried, my office is here to help - I'll be pressing the state government to put an end to this destruction.

Yesterday our community woke to another firebombing, this time in Abbotsford, where a deliberately lit blaze spread across 10 local businesses and sent toxic smoke across the neighborhood. I'm grateful to the many firefighters who had it under control within hours, and so relieved no one was hurt.

This has never been about listening to residents. It's always been about forcing through a plan to hand over valuable inner city public land to private developers to profit off, no matter the human or taxpayer cost.

It's no wonder Labor spent two years trying to keep this report secret. Every shred of evidence we've clawed from them has exposed another lie, another cover-up or another example of disrespect.

Labor heard residents overwhelmingly say they didn't want their homes demolished. They feared stigma, losing community, being pushed out. Then they bulldozed ahead anyway.

Gabrielle de Vietri MP @gabrielledevietri.bsky.social · 01/07/2026
Labor treated public housing residents with contempt from the very beginning, focus-grouping the political damage before bulldozing people's homes.

Today, the Greens are calling for an immediate rent freeze to protect renters from the rising cost of living, fuel prices and interest rates. We know what happens when costs start to rise - property investors try to preserve their profits and renters will be the ones to bear the brunt.

Premier Jacinta Allan is falling into lockstep by increasing police powers for the Melbourne protest against Herzog. This has nothing to do with safety - it will only increase police violence, heighten community distress and erode our democratic rights.

Shame on Adelaide Writers’ Festival for dropping multi-award-winning author Randa Abdel-Fattah. This is racist, political censorship. A capitulation that betrays writers, readers, and the very idea of literary expression. An institution that caves like this forfeits any claim to integrity.

The US's illegal invasion of another country and kidnapping is a brazen act of American imperialism and a gross breach of international law. It's time for Australia to pull out of its military pact with the US - end AUKUS and remove US troops and bases from Australia.
