Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 03/07/2026I miss the ps2 era of gaming. Withing PS6 dropping physical discs, I'm reminded of how great it is to pop in an old ps2 game and have it run flawlessly. 000

Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 27/01/2026🕹️ Finally can share what I worked on last year! Demeter was such a fun god to design! From pitch to ship the team poured so much passion and love into this one. Excited for players to finally get their hands on it. 000
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 26/01/2026Went to a restaurant in the city and couldn’t stop looking at this piece. I don’t know why it spoke to me, but it did. 000
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 23/01/2026I need all my devices to do a whole lot less. My Amazon Fire TV takes ages to turn on and all I want is to switch inputs. But, as soon as I disconnect it from my network, it magically becomes a better TV. So, yeah… dumb devices are the way to go. 000
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 21/01/2026🕹️ started playing Space Marine 2 recently. What a fun game! I realized some games just understand their assignment. They know what they are. They know what is expected. And they don’t try to be anything else. I appreciate that. 010
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 18/01/2026🕹️Got my first retro game handheld. Linux 64-bit system. Under $100. Default software was meh… so I swapped it for Knulli. Plays everything through PS1 generation perfectly. A very enjoyable experience all-in-all. 020
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 18/01/2026Found this photo of the PlayStation Store at the Metreon in San Francisco (1999). I used to love going there as a kid. I really miss the vibes and aesthetics of the 5th and 6th gen console era. 000
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 15/01/2026I’ve been making games professionally for over 10 years. I still get butterflies when I submit a level design for feedback from the leads. The time between finishing work and receiving feedback is the most uncomfortable part of the creative process for me. 000
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 15/01/2026It’s been almost two weeks since we lost our corgi. It’s hard to put into words how much I miss her. She was the sweetest and greatest friend anyone could ask for. Today she came back home. 130
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 14/01/2026Wiithout fail. Every time. I always underestimate how long it takes to teach the rules of a board game. I need to double the time I think it will take. 000
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 14/01/2026:joystick: For the last year, my main PC has been a docked Steam Deck and I know that sounds insane. But, if I’m honest, it just works. I now dread using my windows work machine. Linux is just a better experience overall. 000
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 13/01/2026Energy Vampire reminded me: I think being wrong on the internet is rewarded. People will either believe, get angry, or correct the record. Either way, it’s all a form of engagement. And algorithms love that. 000
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 12/01/2026Needed a way to send my clipboard to multiple devices. KDE Connect works great for this. Highly recommended. I no longer have to email myself links. Praise be! 110
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 09/01/2026Social media isn’t social anymore. It’s just media. Media we resent and don’t trust. We know it manipulates. Divides. Angers. Algorithms don’t want real connection. They want conflict. Cheap and predictable attention. It’s a business model built on creating unhappy customers. 000

Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 28/08/2024🕹 One of the best parts about landing an interview in the game industry is that I get to play a bunch of the studio’s games as prep. 000

Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 05/08/2024🕹 Last week I released Hell Dev. Made in around 10 hours over the course of a month in my spare time. It turned out “ok” All-in-all it was a fun project that got me through my first week of unemployment Hell Dev by Gabriel Cornish 000
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 29/07/2024#gamedev community, I’d love to hear from you! What’s the most fun you’ve ever had working on a game? What were you working on? What made it made such a fun experience? When was the last time you felt like that? 120
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 25/07/2024#gamedev should be fun and creatively fulfilling! If you feel burnt out or disillusioned, think about treating yourself to a small game project that’s just for you. 🗓️ Make it in a month. ⏱️ Work on it for 1-2 hours a week. 🔥 Don’t crunch. Cut scope. 😊 Make whatever brings you joy. 020
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 24/07/2024The WoW team has formed a union! I hope they achieve a sustainable and fulfilling work environment so that they can produce their best work. 000
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 24/07/2024🎮 A massive problem in the game industry is morale. Developers aren’t having a good time making games because we’re focused on trying to survive. This is not sustainable. The industry needs happy and fulfilled developers to make great games for players to enjoy. 000
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 24/07/2024Maya Rudolph is the one person who’s gonna get me through the 2024 election season. 000
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 23/07/2024If you’re just starting out in game design, I recommend doubling down on making games that are easy to understand. It’s a skill that will never go out of style. It took me way too long to learn that clarity is fundamental to design and all good things arise from a clear and accessible experience. 031
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 22/07/2024My toddler’s activity of choice this morning was to randomly throw my shoes around the house… and after seeing how much fun he was having, I joined in. The kid makes a good point. Throwing shoes is fun as hell. 000
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 21/07/2024As I become another game developer affected by layoffs, I’ve realized that I’m terrified of what’s next and what I want from a career in games. The scariest thing is admitting to yourself what you actually want. Especially when it runs counter to everything you’ve told yourself and believed. 010
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 19/07/2024Panic time! I’m coming up on the remaining days of the jam and I still have nothing as far as gameplay. I’ve tried out a few things, but nothing seems to be sticking. II need to pivot to something and fast. It seems like the best possible strategy I can do is SIMPLIFY, SIMPLIFY, SIMPLIFY. 000
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 16/07/2024Just wrapped up my game over screen for the Decker 2024 game jam. 000
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 16/07/2024Game design is great because you can make the tiniest victories feel major with enough positive reinforcement. Games can help people feel joy from their smallest actions and I just love that. 010
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 11/07/2024A great way to procrastinate working on your game is to work on the title screen instead. Here’s my first stab at the cover art for Hell Dev. 000
Gabriel Cornish @gabrielcornish.bsky.social · 09/07/2024🕹️ Today, was more art exploration for the game jam. I also set up the two main resources. The player will be managing Health and Glitches. Health is simple. If it reaches zero: game over. Glitches are meant to be collected. Collect enough glitches to escape the video game you’re trapped inside. 020
