"Evidence-based" approaches to therapy that have been deemed to be the most effective have a shorter-term impact compared to those of Psychoanalysis. There should be a priority on what will give people the best quality of life overall, not the immediate effects. @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social

If these studies are excluding people who have more than one diagnosis from the DSM IV, how well do these results translate to actual clinical practice? This would mean that some of the people who are hardest to treat are the least represented. @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social #Psyc4666

Many times, we take statistics at face value. It was very interesting to see how publication biases can also affect the outcome of research. On that same note, statistically significant doesn’t mean it’s meaningful @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social #Psyc4666

I thought Shelder's conclusion in his article published in 2016 was very interesting. It made me want to check his citations, as he said to not trust anyone, even himself. Spoiler... All of them exist and were correctly cited! @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social #Psyc4666

In Jan Joffman's "What the Therapist Thinks About You," we explore whether therapists' notes can be accessible to patients and still be beneficial and increase transparency in the client-therapist relationship. However, if it's written knowing you'll read it, is it still honest?
