Prepping for #StarTrek interviews in a couple of days. I think I intentionally avoided it for so long because the last time I covered SNW I had a lot more coworkers to celebrate it with. It's been healing to watch screeners, like a security blanket, but also sad.

Dead Internet Theory but it's just viral videos on YouTube of a chef from New York making the most basic-looking meal that could be made anywhere insisting it's different.

This may be robbing Peter to pay Paul, but I found I can get my kid to take substantial breaks from YouTube if I play old Cartoon Network cartoons on Tubi. She's currently hooked on Cow and Chicken

If you hate ads but still want to support your favorite content creators and ensure they have a job, buying your favorite geeky stuff through affiliate links is another great option that keeps them in business! Especially if you want to get it anyway. It only helps and costs you nothing extra.

Was surprised when Chicano Batman was in #BallsUp because I was like "Oh wow didn't expect something from my playlist in there" and then they played a hit from Masayoshi Takanaka and it made me research if Prime was developing something that inserted your favorite music into movies.

Tempted to stop watching #Paradise 7 minutes into the first episode and just gaslight myself into believing the show is James from James and the Giant Peach and the PTSD he suffers when he sees his son reading a book about it.

With no new #StarTrek shows on the horizon, I found the lack of a meaningful update at CinemaCon on the upcoming movie flat-out unacceptable. It's the 60th anniversary and one of your biggest IPs that generates billions in revenue on streaming. GIVE US SOMETHING www.cinemablend.com/television/w...

In short, don't buy into this bullshit, even if you hate the show. This isn't even journalism, it's just bullshit.

Mick Joest @g33kymick.bsky.social · 06/04/2026

The lowest viewed series premiere of all time (pre DVR) had 800k viewers and was almost immediately canceled. There's no way anyone at Paramount would allow a full season of a series that pulled in a fraction of that if the numbers were that low after the premiere.

In context, this is a quote from a YouTuber, who alleges he heard this from an unnamed source. I'll be frank, Starfleet Academy having THAT low of viewership would be unprecedented on a level never before seen. There's no way it was stay secret because it would be the lowest viewed show of all time.

I can't prove beyond a reasonable doubt this is a lie, but I can say with certainty with all I know about television that it is bullshit. Yahoo picking this up with such a misleading headline is upsetting to say the least. #StarTrek

Here's what I will say about #Daredevil that I love. Marvel inadvertently made the most politically releavant season of a superhero series and it's so satisfying to see Matt Murdock take down agents in detainment camps and free people.

Hot take: The new season of Daredevil is pretty boring thus far, and I think because it's acting in service to set up a Marvel movie.

Saw this clip from a video where the premise was that Scooby from Scooby Doo was an interdimensional being with god-like powers but kept having to rebuild the universe when Velma would ask the gang why he could talk. I was like “yeah I gotta get in the shower”

I have to think it's hilarious that Trump's response to the unpopularity of the Iran war was to take over every network and say "Actually it's very popular I've heard."

I did a hot wing challenge and must’ve rubbed my hands on my knees at some point. The only reason I know that is because I woke up at 3 am to a searing pain in my kneecaps that feels like I got the worst sunburn of my life.

Upsetting news to hear #StarTrek Starfleet Academy will not go past Season 2. The fandom's inability to embrace any new storytelling outside of nostalgia might as well be the death knell for the fandom, sad as it is to say.

Everyone always has a doctor telling them how they could've died, but none of them ever talk about a doctor being like "Yeah, this isn't an issue. Your being here was completely unnecessary. Don't google stuff and come in and say you have it."
