Also before the race yesterday I took my dad to go see Cars because it was rereleased for its 20th anniversary and the JOY of those kids in that theatre was incredible and also the racing was about as legit as the racing in the F1 movie.

There are drivers I'll doubt and then there's Charles, who has taken the blame for many things that were never his fault. It's also a pretty innocuous excuse - it doesn't absolve him, he might have errored too, but two things can be true simultaneously and lead to a much worse result. Still. 2027!

Not fully sure this was a prime example of Charles overdriving - I think I saw one quote where he talked about weird deployment on lap one leading him to think he could push more on lap two - but totally agreed on the nonsensical calls for priority, it was never on, we said this in June!
