Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Ended today's Rime of the Frostmaiden game with the group hanging by rope over a Remorhaz in a pool with its eggs. Love the art of the scene they included in the book (pictured). Looking forward to picking this up again in two weeks! #TTRPG #ProDM #DnD 020
Reposted by Fraser Valley Tabletop GamesGail Simone @gailsimone.bsky.social · 04/10/2026You guys want to hear a short but adorable story that happened right in front of me at the baggage claim in NYC yesterday? I wasn't part of it and there are bits I didn't catch but holy crap, I can't stop thinking about it. 5440011199
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Its always a crap shoot, but the Cthulhu game I joined was great. That said, I once had someone join a D&D Virtual Weekend adventure in a spa as Frank Castle and his character just started attacking the moment he arrived. You just never know. 010
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Greed. The companies and UCP will just blame Ottawa while pocketing more profit and too many Albertans will fall for it. 100
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Because in the past there was proper taxation of the wealthy & we knew that the former dunny-man would be taken care of. Now, money is concentrated into the hands of a few & there's zero guarantee that those people won't be left to starve so shareholders can get another jet, especially in the US. 000
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Like you, I know I should prep in advance, but its usually a wild flurry of activity mere hours (or less) before the session. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't improved entire sessions at the table after not prepping more than "I want to get to here". 030
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 18/09/2026One of the largest problems in our society is the idea that one person's labour is less important than others and they should be demeaned (and underpaid) for it. Retail workers and the so-called "menial" jobs are often the most physically demanding and yet the most looked down upon. 120
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Being a big Legend of the Five Rings fan, I've always liked the idea of an Ancestral Weapon that improves as you do rather than finding new magic weapons and upgrading. So this new rendition of evolving magic items is right up my alley. I hope that this is the first of many more items. 000
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 18/09/2026This looks like my Rime of the Frostmaiden group right now! :) 010
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I've managed to get enough paid ongoing games over the last 3+ years to not need to work online, so I'm woefully unskilled with VTTs, something I need to at some point remedy. 000
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I don't get to play that often (& when I do, like tonight, it can be a frustrating experience with very old school GMs that are far more adversarial than modern types). Like you, I've dabbled around @startplaying.bsky.social & was able to semi-regularly play a Cthulhu game before it ended. 100
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Being on the west coast, I also struggle to find times that work for me to join One-Shots. I've tried to find a few over the last few months and haven't had any that worked out. 100
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I've seen them all. Transformers movie was better than anything Bay did, which is a low bar. Goofy Movie is magic. So is Buffy. GI Joe is an American thing that this Canadian didn't care for. Friends was good. Golden Girls was great. Babylon 5's three middle seasons were great & I loved the series. 030
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 18/09/2026D&D 5.5 Daggerheart The One Ring Warhammer FRPG 2E (The two before that, Call of Cthulhu and FFG Star Wars) 020
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Liking what I've read so far. Looking forward to getting this edition to the table, as well as my newly acquired Warhammer: The Old World RPG. 000
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Quiet week ahead & a bunch of new #TTRPG books to read, including Marvel Multiverse RPG: Secret Wars and #DnD Arcana Unleashed + Deadfall. That's on top of still working through Warhammer: The Old World RPG, the 5th Edition of Warhammer FRPG, and Daggerheart: Hope & Fear. What are you reading? 010
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 12/09/2026We watched it a couple of nights ago. It was fun. Had some cute moments and some cool moments. Given the backlash against it, I had lowered expectations, but I enjoyed it overall. People clearly wanted something more epic, but The Mandalorian has never been Andor and I never expected that. 010
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Returned to Middle-Earth and The One Ring #TTRPG tonight, running the new Starter Set for most of my usual Cthulhu crew. After a shaky start trying to explain and remember all the rules, we hit our stride and made it to Crann to finish off session 1 of 2. Looking forward to the finale! #ProDM #LotR 010
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 08/09/2026With the Orange Menace attacking Canada, we're doubling down on investing in infrastructure to keep folks working despite tariffs. Big investments from our government to modernize so many things. Too many times, conservatives cut, cut, cut and then leave the left to clean up the mess (& then blame). 010
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 08/09/2026Nentir Vale 5E game took a breather after Keep on the Shadowfell to give #Daggerheart a try tonight. Ran Sablewood Messengers for 3 of them & they really enjoyed it a lot. Interest in trying Dying Spire in 2 weeks before continuing Thunderspire Labyrinth. We'll see. #ProDM #TTRPG 021
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 05/09/2026Returned to running games last night after a nice 10-day break and ended up in a session that was far more uproarious laughter and innuendo than productive. Sometimes, the group just wants to have fun goofing with each other. :) One small step closer to completing Phandelver & Below! #ProDM #TTRPG 010
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 27/08/2026@whitemothlodge.bsky.social followed! :) Canadian not buying American right now where possible, but this might have to be an exception. Definitely a saved for better times. Some awesome stuff indeed! 010
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 27/08/2026Everyone needs a little recharge sometimes. :) 000
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 24/08/2026Another weekend of fun #DnD games is almost done, with the Monday game to go. Moved my Saturday game up a weekend and cancelled a home game to give myself an actual weekend off next weekend. Been so long, I don't know if I'll know what to do with so much time between games (10 days!). #ProDM #TTRPG 100
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 31/07/2026Huge congrats! Can't wait to see what you're making! 010
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 31/07/2026I'm excited to see what they do with DS. I'm actually optimistic after seeing the promo. The vitriol we see from edgelords that want the worst outdated parts of the DS to survive is crazy. They too often miss that its the fight against fascism and tyranny that is fundamental to the setting. 030
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 31/07/2026Modest Mouse's Good News For People Who Love Bad News but as a solo game where you're working for a parody news site (like the Onion) and trying to make usable content under an intense deadline and with an incompetent boss monkeywrenching with your work. 020
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 31/07/2026Vampire Weekend's Modern Vampires of the City and....well, I guess Vampire: The Masquerade is already that game. :) 010
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 31/07/2026I'm not the target market for Universes Beyond, but not surprised WotC is taking this direction. They're trying to get maximum monetization with their releases. That's why they subcontract the "lesser" books while hoping to keep those seeking additional material for settings happy. I've accepted it. 100
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 31/07/2026Lots of interesting announcements today from WotC. Lots of frustration from folks, too. I'm very excited for Dark Sun & Greyhawk. #DnD Icons sounds intriguing and its great to see more official Dragonlance. The subcontracted material from Ghostfire, Kobold, and Visionary should be good. 1/2 110
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 31/07/2026I can get that. I was skeptical at first, too, but I've grown to love them. 010
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 31/07/2026The FFG one is quite good. I have something like 40 books for it. The dice were awesome and we're seeing them inspire the dice mechanics in Daggerheart (which lists Genesys, which is also the Star Wars system, as inspiration). I also played WotC Star Wars from 3rd, which was meh. 110
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 31/07/2026It is normal because they're a huge corporation and they don't make enough money on anything more than a setting book with new crunch to sell to players and DMs. That's why they announced subcontracting out books like you describe. WoW and Star Wars will drive the sales they want, so we get that. 000
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 31/07/2026That said, 5.5 is the most I've enjoyed D&D and while I'm a grognard, I never was a huge fan of older editions (I played way more Warhammer FRPG and more back then), so I'm also not the fan that's likely to be the most frustrated with the current state of the game. 010
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 31/07/2026I understand why long-time fans are concerned and don't think its freaking out, but they're also not the target market anymore. The goal is to bring in new players, full stop. Everything else is secondary and we have to either accept it or mourn and move on. I #ProDM so I have accepted it. 110
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 31/07/2026Hopefully what they're supposed to do with it. The setting isn't defined by outdated racial garbage, or at least it shouldn't be, and I doubt the current team would think it does. It'll surely anger the crowd that thinks it does define it, but they're not the ones that are the target market in 2026. 000
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 31/07/2026I mean, Ghostfire also does Grim Hollow, which is why I'm intrigued by this announcement, but that is an amusing fact regardless. :) 020
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 26/07/2026Not going to lie, that kind of environment-skewing deck is not healthy for the game. Here's hoping there's some good showings for decks that counter Cad or we'll be looking at a repeat of the Boba or Jango era. 000
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 26/07/202614 D&D sessions in 7 days (& Call of Cthulhu the day before). Brain officially fried! Had a bunch of plans for today that have devolved into a much needed day of rest before doing it all again next week for week two of #DnD summer camps. That said, the kids were great in Week 1. #TTRPG #ProDM 010
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 20/07/2026This weekend's #TTRPG games hit harder, with some brutal beatdowns and boss fights that shook the players and had them worried! No better feeling than seeing them sweat! Tomorrow brings one more regularly scheduled game & the start of #DnD Summer Camps. 3 games in 1 day on Monday! Yikes! #ProDM 000
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 16/07/2026After two crazy weeks of #ProDM #TTRPG games, I'm on an unusual stretch of 4 full days off and its weird. :) I should be savouring it, though, as this weekend brings three games in a row followed by two weeks of #DnD Summer Camps in addition to my regular clients. This is the calm before the storm. 011
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 11/07/2026I love this and its so true. Amazing moments make for lifelong memories. Groups revisit these special events over and over again. "Flying Invisible Brown Bear" "Realizing Host is a Victim of an old Nemesis from 6 months ago & about to explode." "The Invisible Sorcerer Tries To Rogue and Fails" 020
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 11/07/2026That's why I have over 50 for #DnD. Including a Halfling for every D&D class. :) I may also like making #TTRPG characters far too much. #HalflingsRule #ProDM #MayHaveAProblem 020
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 11/07/2026It was the "B-side" of another poster in an old CCG magazine, but it was the one that struck me & remains a favourite. I've forgotten the name of the actual piece, but it still strikes a chord with me. Idea of a demon contemplating its choices, that you can be more than you're meant to. Love it! 010
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 10/07/2026Backed as well. He makes good stuff. 110
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 10/07/2026An instant back for me. I've been a fan of his Eight Steps process for years and have run the Ruins of the Grendleroot #TTRPG campaign and more of his content as one-shots over the years. @slyflourish.com makes good stuff and you should definitely check it out! 0162
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 10/07/2026Interesting article. A take I hadn't really thought about, but which makes a lot of sense. 000
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 07/07/2026Final #TTRPG game of four in four nights is tonight! The players return to the Nentir Vale and continue their exploration of the Keep on the Shadowfell. Enjoying the return to the excellent 4E setting with this adaption to 5E. I'd love to see a return to the Points of Light setting someday. #ProDM 000
Fraser Valley Tabletop Games @fvtabletopgames.bsky.social · 06/07/2026Its funny to me reading this that in a local Discord meetup group, two of the most active games are TMNT and now Rifts (along with Blades in the Dark and Mothership). Despite its warts, there's still life in the Palladium system. 120
