The completely rewritten new version indoorco2map.com App is now available for both Android and iPhone. It removes the biggest problems of the old App, especially location search which is now very reliable and also a lot faster (usually <1 second) but also features dozens of small improvements. 1/n
A screenshot of the new main menu of the app, showing a sensor selection dropdown, the possibility to search for buildings and public transit in vicinity. sorting by distance or alphabet, a text search and the option to start the recording

What did you think would happen when you restricted access to care?
“A screenshot of a news article from The Times website. The headline reads: ‘Children taking DIY cross-sex hormones before going to gender clinics.’ The subheadline states: ‘Hundreds of young trans people are buying puberty blockers, oestrogen and testosterone without prescription from websites and even recreational drug dealers.’ The page header includes navigation links, a log-in button, and a ‘Start trial’ button.”

There’s some evidence to suggest that you can piggy back a bit off the flu vaccine for some Covid protection. So you can maybe space them 6 months apart to cover you for a year if you get it yearly.

I’m considering getting my Covid vaccine soon, before December - maybe this month still, especially as I don’t know what America will be doing with Covid vaccines. It may be harder for people (at least there) to get them. Are you off Covid vaccines permanently now? I’m considering doing it yearly.

I’m still wearing a respirator to protect myself and others, but have started to go out more regularly to eat or drink somewhere if it’s well ventilated. I still sometimes take my CO2 monitor with me. How about you?

Just to be sure, ask your doctor what risks there are with the supplements you want to take, and mention other meds and supplements you are already taking. Some supplements might interfere with your existing meds.

FusionProgGuy @fusionprogguy.bsky.social · 07/04/2025
Don’t fall for the scam. Listen to experts and read papers, then ask them questions about it. Try not to supplement nutrients if you’re not deficient. Supplements are unregulated so risks exist, like unknown ingredients (eg heavy metals) and excess nutrients.

If you are not already, please consider masking in public, especially in places where people have no choice but to go - including public transit, grocery stores, and medical centers (especially medical centers). Doing so could literally save someone's life. www.usnews.com/opinion/arti... 3/3

Due to the lack of interest in sars-cov2 some in the covid cautious have suggested a rebrand with the name Airborne-aware, given how likely it is that a new pandemic could be around the corner. Masking doesn’t just reduce the chance of catching Covid.

A carnist can use the same argument - if you were meant to eat potatoes and beans, you'd eat it raw! If you were meant to eat rice, you'd not cook it. If you were meant to eat bread it would grow on trees, and so on. If you think those are bad arguments, stop using the same kind of argument!

FusionProgGuy @fusionprogguy.bsky.social · 01/03/2025
Please stop using this argument. It suggests that humans should not do anything that is not "natural". Want to get somewhere - don't use a car, plane or bicycle - that's not how we moved. Want to take medicine - it's not natural - so don't listen to doctors.... - that's the reasoning this supports.

New admin claims to be the frontier of radical transparency—but in just 1 week, public health decisions are being hidden from view. Instead of strengthening transparency, Sec. Kennedy is rolling it back: 1. ACIP meeting (CDC’s vaccine advisors). Delayed = No transparency on vaccine policy decisions

Yes, Marc Veldhoen uses red crosses to indicate that the title of a paper can often be misleading and that people who are not experts can come to wrong conclusions about the meaning of findings. It looks simple to cross out a study, but it takes years of knowledge to be able to explain why.

I see. I wasn’t aware that drinking would have a drastic effect on Covid risk. Is there an increased risk for moderate drinking - a few drinks on weekends?
000
FusionProgGuy @fusionprogguy.bsky.social · 26/02/2025
You’re allowed to have preferences for risks, but it’s a surprising. For me it has been difficult to reduce precautions based on what I know Covid can do to the body, but also by how many people have been severely impacted. I think I am still traumatised by the pandemic.

FusionProgGuy @fusionprogguy.bsky.social · 26/02/2025
If avoiding alcohol is so important that you would drop Covid precautions if it meant you wouldn’t be tempted to drink, I think it means you think drinking is more dangerous or harmful to your well-being than catching Covid, right?
210
FusionProgGuy @fusionprogguy.bsky.social · 26/02/2025
I’m not sure how to understand your risk hierarchy. For me both read like the risk related to catching Covid is very low, unless I misunderstand how little stands on the way of being an alcoholic. I don’t mean any judgement - just seeking to understand your statements.

My two 20cm Noctua fans arrived today for my DIY air filters. They’re very quiet but also surprisingly weak. As a result I might stack two of them. I did a few simple tests using a makeshift wind tunnel and an anemometer. 9-10cm between fans was best for wind speed. #airquality #PCfans #noctua

It does seem like a big ask but it’s probably the right thing to do - just like having wheelchair accessible places. Most people don’t need it but those who do can’t participate in society without it. So I think it would be nice to try, in risky, crowded places.

You probably need to make adjustments - if you pull the glasses a bit further from your face then the glasses can rest at the ideal height for you as the mask bridge drops off vertically. It just won’t contour to your nose as is possible with most N95s/KN95s.

FusionProgGuy @fusionprogguy.bsky.social · 24/02/2025
I don’t see that there’s a conflict between treating people as individuals with different needs and coming up with policies with broad political agreement if you want to build a movement. We don’t need to exclude the Covid cautious. I’m for inclusive politics, not abandoning people with more needs.

FusionProgGuy @fusionprogguy.bsky.social · 24/02/2025
No, that’s not what I’m suggesting. I’m saying people should not assume that someone who is still masking or doing more than what public health officials recommend has mental health issues (eg OCD, anxiety etc)
100
FusionProgGuy @fusionprogguy.bsky.social · 24/02/2025
I see public health guidance a bit like the RDI for nutrients or macros. They are useful for the average, healthy but sedentary person. Once you fall outside of that, you probably need to make adjustments - for example if you’re very active, or trying to lose weight, or you have a deficiency.
100
FusionProgGuy @fusionprogguy.bsky.social · 24/02/2025
I think there are many reasons someone might want to take more precautions than are recommended by public health organisations, such as not wanting to be as sick as often as everyone else, not wanting to miss income due to illness, having more health complications, or being more community minded.

FusionProgGuy @fusionprogguy.bsky.social · 24/02/2025
In my view you have to either be a doctor or mental health professional advising a patient to make such a determination. You can’t just tell from the outside if someone is immune compromised or what could happen if someone wouldn’t be able to work if infected.
200
FusionProgGuy @fusionprogguy.bsky.social · 24/02/2025
That’s fair. Trust in institutions that protect our health is important. However isn’t it bad practice to make medical decisions for others if you’re not a doctor? How else would you know if someone is obsessed vs justifiably concerned?

FusionProgGuy @fusionprogguy.bsky.social · 23/02/2025
Many experts have changed their focus from Covid as hospitalizations have reduced due to vaccinations and previous infections. I’m curious if any Covid cautious folks have reduced their level of masking in the last two years or so, and why you decided to do that.

FusionProgGuy @fusionprogguy.bsky.social · 23/02/2025
I’m interested to hear 1) if you got vaccinated (or why not) 2) if you wore a high quality mask such as an N95 or KN95, or at least a surgical mask 3) which experts you listen to 4) if you’ve followed people who got long Covid or other chronic health issues after catching Covid

I’d say Zimi is probably more difficult to wear glasses with than most other masks because of the frame underneath which is not very flexible. It’s possible though but the glasses may be further away from your nose than you’re used to - maybe not even touching your nose as it sits on the frame.
