Update: SSL certificates that secure the https connection do not currently cover multiple level subdomains ex: X.Y.Furry.camp. Problem has been determined and a solution being worked on. The preference is to continue to allow multilevel subdomains.

Strange. When entering rgb.derg.furry.camp directly in an address bar it works. But rgb.derg.furry.camp fails with an SSL error. I'll look into that.

If you mean mentioning users @rgb.derg.furry.camp should work without issues. And the full URL rgb.derg.furry.camp should link as well. It's possible DNS hasn't populated completely yet or the redirect process is hanging at some point. I'll look into it, but I believe it should resolve with time.

4️⃣ To activate your new handle: In the official bsky.app site/app: a. Go to: Settings➡️Change Handle, tap “I have my own domain” b. Type new handle in the box. c. Tap “Verify DNS Record” ✅“Domain verified!” means it worked! d. Tap “Update to…” to save the change. ℹ️ Reply with #fcsupport for help.

2️⃣ Post Your Request Write a new post @furry.camp that restricts replies to mentioned users only. Your post should look like this: @furry.camp #fcrename @/mynewname.furry.camp It mentions @furry.camp, contains the command #fcrename, and has the name you want to change your handle to.

Example post creation dialogue that displays the correct format to use when requesting a new handle with furry.camp. The post is written as "@furry.camp #fcrename @/changemyname.furry.camp" where @/changemyname.furry.camp is the desired new handle.

This project works by linking your account’s DID to a domain name that is managed by the project. You pick your name and submit it to be linked. Once linked then you only have to verify the link in your account settings. This guide describes essentially what happens behind the scenes.

Generally an individual or small group will use a domain name that they already own and use for their website, or buy a domain just to use as their handle. This isn’t perfect for everyone though, so this project aims to be an alternative solution.

This is why you may be frustrated that you can’t pick the exact same handle as you use on other sites - your handle has to be a valid domain name, and domain names must be registered and purchased. BlueSky has provided bsky.social as the default.

When you pick your handle during account sign-up that handle is linked to your account’s DID. You can change your handle as often as you like, because it will always link back to the DID which never changes. This allows us to pick some creative handles, as long as we own them.

Bluesky and the AT Protocol identify users with a long unique string, a DID. This long string isn't easy to remember. Instead, a handle in a familiar, easy to use, format is created that links to that long DID string. This handle looks a lot like a website address, because it is a domain name.
