Kaitlyn is off running the Chicago marathon this morning and sent me this great pic from her pace group just before start time 🏃‍♀️ (if you don't know my wife she's the smaller lady in front)

Had a couple free hours this afternoon in Chicago so I stopped at the nearest record shop - Reckless - and managed to restrain myself. Only bought 3 albums, but they're all heaters

just had some of the best Chicago dogs I've had outside Chicago

ohh this is totally new to me but seems right up my alley, thank you!!

so, International Anthem tends to release 2 weeks later on streaming. I bought it on bandcamp so I've got the whole thing but I think only 3 tracks are playing there for now if you haven't bought it

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

I need to hear that! I've got so many of his releases but that recent bandcamp interview made me realize I'm missing some crucial-sounding ones

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

nice, thanks! and that's awesome, I love Monorail - only visited once but spent a good couple hours there

010

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

seen a lot of talk about this one today, can't wait to listen tonight. switched to vinyl mode for the afternoon. I've only heard their collab with Shackleton so far

110

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

haha hell yeah, I will certainly rewatch at some point

000

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

I can't believe I hadn't heard of it, two of my friends apparently loved it growing up too

010

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

oh yeah hope you catch it while it's on CC, wild stuff. very fun. cheesy but fully committed.

010

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

whoa didn't know this! also dang, wish that soundcloud stream was still up

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

🫡🫡🫡 always happy to share the love

010

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

hell yeah brother! glad to hear it. I ended up listening to 4-5 albums yesterday and I've got some lined up for the weekend

020

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Absolutely! check out Primitive Arts from 1999, great early album. most of his work is on 12" singles so the massive Prescription compilation is another VERY good set to go for. last year's double album Lift Off is incredible too. and peep Electric Jungle 12" from this year

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

I hate that probably 60% of the new music I want comes from the UK/EU but it is what it is! thankfully Boomkat makes it somewhat less painful, but they don't have everything

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

new Jeremiah Chiu album is 🔥🔥🔥 what else dropped today that you guys are digging?

Highway Horror collection on criterion channel continues to deliver - watching The Wraith tonight. Charlie Sheen, Sherilyn Fenn, score by Michael Hoenig, a really sick car, can't ask for much more

say what you will about the GTA games but they've had excellently curated soundtracks all along. pretty excited to crank up this radio station when I play the new one:

uh oh I feel myself falling into a Necks rabbit hole again

Yasuaki Shimizu - Kiren in 2022 we finally got this unreleased funky gem from 1984.. but I didn't bump into it until today, somehow. feels like fourth world city pop, a total blast.

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

did you find a copy locally or have it shipped from UK? I would own so many more Foat albums if they had US distro..

100

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

dude it is incredible, super approachable too. Their 90s collab Message From Home is also excellent

010

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Good call! I'd love to own this one on vinyl, hope I can find a copy in the US at some point because I'm not spending $80 to have it shipped here

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

I think I heard Grapes but it was Saggitarian Domain that hooked me. I was just not expecting something so propulsive and *catchy* y'know in that way he does it

110

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

so happy you grabbed it too! as someone who's spent way too much at the dentist over the years, I had to help out Shane and also get some new tunes asap

010

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Yeah this album is an outlier but their other material is great too!

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Ron Trent pushing deep house into full-blown fusion / 80s ecm jazz territory? Yes please.

Finally reading a PKD book that's been on my list for years. Cosmic dub techno for the soundtrack 🌌

Nightmare on Elm Street full series run continues tonight with the one I've been told is gonna be my favorite. Very excited after having such a blast with part 2

070

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

wanted more music in the same vein, continued on with QUIK-MELT by M. Geddes Gengras. 40ish minutes of gliding through the clouds 🌬️🌥️

Steve Reich - Music for 18 Musicians Insides - Clear Skin listening to these minimalist dream stunners back to back this morning, feels amazing.

Finally watching the rest of the Nightmare on Elm Street series this October after having seen only the original a bunch of times. Especially stoked for part 2, my best friend said it's the gayest movie ever made and it's amazing

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

so many gems!! I really want to pick up Blobs. did you know the cover art is by Foat's young son? he rarely gets on social media but he replied to my post about the album last year saying that :)

120

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Glad to hear that! I think it may be less beloved than some of his more percussive works but gosh it hits me in the soul every time. I was silly to wait this long to pick up a copy.

120

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

man it's so good. got me to revisit Aaliyah and ended up listening to her albums a lot

010

David James 🍩 @funkentechno.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

There you go!! and yeah same here, my family comes first and records are just extra. It's my one main hobby so I don't feel too bad paying reasonable prices for records but I can't go for the crazy shipping or prices on some Lps lately
