Sorry I meant, addition of 4 machines in a year would be a lot (for me), and did make me wonder whether this is normal to you and whether you have many machines 😅 but sounds like they are backups to a mighty machine.

Ah I see! The top part of the skirt was folded twice to finish the edge, before being inserted into the top part sandwich. About 3.25-3.5" was exposed (skirt without top part). And yes, there's an invisible zipper on the middle back of the skirt.

I don’t explain very well so hopefully images work better. Summary: bottom (skirt) is sandwiched between 2 top layers (outer and lining of identical shape). To be able to properly do this, I left 1/2” when sewing the 2 top layers together. I hope this helps.

I use this pattern as a base. I picked the size based on the hip circumference and added an inch around the waist for myself. I find the bottom part of the butt area is roomy so I reduced it a little bit but only after one of the leg is done basted. www.etsy.com/listing/4353...

Made another pair of shorts with leftover cotton fabric I got last year. No print matching because it was scrap and I was working with what I have. I just don’t want to waste this cute fabric. Lined with cotton to ensure opacity. Invisible zipper once again to the rescue! #sewsky #garment
