The increasing corruption of intelligence by AI. Facebook suggested an account on gardening in South Carolina with a meandering article by AI on growing fuchsias. No actual experience. It’s shameless. This pic is fuchsia gall mite, for #$@&!?%‘s sake, not a tired fuchsia with fading flowers. 🤬

What’s flowering at the Fuchsietum? Fuchsia ‘Sparky’ is showing off a tad late this year but it’s now really getting on with it. The hybrid is a 1994 cross by Peter Webb in the UK. Three species are hiding in those perky little flowers — F. procumbens x ‘Thalia’ (F. triphylla x F. fulgens).

Addendum! It appears the breeder was possibly Arthur and that the fuchsia was after his daughter, Jane, who was nicknamed “Jiddles” at school.

What’s flowering at the Fuchsietum? Fuchsia ‘Jiddles’ is a lovely white Encliandra-section hybrid of unrecorded parentage. Judging from appearances, F. obconica was probably involved, along with whatever other related species in this section that it might have gotten involved with. 1/6
