Fun fact, Jean-Luc Mélenchon was in his twenties when the Khmer Rouge gave the whole forced pastoralist thing their very best. Time for JL to fire up the ole VCR and to give the Killing Fields a watch.

From your lips to God's ears - also, I had forgotten about that election entirely. Wooh boy. I liked the line about a President who was elected twice, especially.

The Grinch, George Hamilton, and the dead guy from Weekend at Bernie's should not have entered the teleportation machine from The Fly at the same time, is all I'm saying.

In fairness, how could a Senator from the Midwest be expected to know of the existence of this strange and essentially unheard of team - the Iowa Hawkeyes - and more so a Senator from Louisiana which, by being so far away clearly would not . . . wait . . . I've just been handed a note.

That's a relief - they've had a 2 week war that has been going for months to accomplish less than nothing, their fight against the Marxists apparently doesn't include concerns about centralized restrictions on exports (diesel), and hurrah for the expelling the . . . checks notes . . . fascists.

Just read a pollster gave a briefing to House Republicans along the lines of "If you are in a +10 district you are under water - if you are in a +15 district your within the polls error margin." Note that if it runs D+10 then all, as is all, of the Texas districts designed to defeat Dems will not.

I hope, for all our sakes, they have a decent dictionary in the prison library when they catch up to him (presumably in a future administration). I don't think he needs AI to generate a picture of a "recipient" vs. a receipt, but then again I have no idea how ugly he is.

Now, admittedly I'm not an IT expert or in law enforcement, but it seems to me that the F.B.I. probably should have been spending more of their management time safeguarding their data (and with it, their people) instead of wondering how best to get "known" perpetrators of bestiality an FBI jacket.

I hope you stand up on the bus and shout - "This is not the Blue Lagoon I was promised!" I believe that goes over well. More seriously, if you are stranded and do manage to get clothing (incl. a swimsuit) their Blue Lagoon is quite groovy and worth a visit.

And now, the chaser (reminder that Nixon's lowest poll - taken right before resignation - was 24%).

The final poll for Nixon, just before he headed on to that helicopter and flew off into the sunset, was 24% (lower than I recalled). I don't know American Research Group as a polling organization, but based on their latest, it's a short stroll to be in that neighborhood.

Hegseth can't be removed before the election - Johnson is sending the House home, and it's set to return only after the election. No House, no role for the Senate full stop. Tillis can go directly to hell on this btw - he encouraged the sister-in-law to testify on the understanding he was a "no."

At this point even the paramount lying tool of the administration - who hasn't seen a needlessly massive self-destructive economic policy he doesn't love (Kevin Hassett, head of Trump's Council of Economic Advisers) will soon start looking like the Ben Affleck smoking meme.

One seat, one term loss? Perhaps OP would like to mention the last time a non-incumbent Democrat won a Senate Seat in Texas. That was 1970. Oh, and how about the specific Senate seat in Texas for which Talarico is running? Oh, that was 1960 (LBJ resigned this seat when he became VP in 1961). FFS.

Those who do not learn the lessons of history . . . you know the rest. They might want to check on the batting average of Nazi Germany, Rhodesia, and the Confederacy - none of which is present on any current maps. I hope they are also speed running their way into becoming a historical footnote.

As a Republican running . . . in Texas . . . where the last time a non-incumbent Democrat won a Senate seat was 1970. As for actual Senate seat that Paxton is running, the last time a Dem won "that" seat was 1960 (LBJ).

I think Jon is probably the play - sadly I don't know if the U.S. is ready for Mayor Pete (even though he has an unmatched ability to go into the lion's den(s) of ruby red areas calmly and intelligently gaining real respect from diehards). I do think Jon got whatever injection Captain America did.
