Mass Lobby for Trans Equality - 9th September 2026
The law around trans equality is fundamentally broken. Government inaction is hanging trans people and organisations out to dry - with a confusing mess of challenging rules and lawfare.

I've bridged my fediverse account from threads so if you do still want to enjoy my posts (unlikely). You can follow me here: @fruity.py.threads.net.ap.brid.gy Who knows? Maybe I'll be back natively one day.

I'm going to give Threads another try as although it may not be as in with those who fled X and I hate to use another Meta product, it feels like there's a lot more going on there.

I think Bluesky may not be for me. It's clear that the platform lacks the diversity that I value. For example I've struggled to find any significantly active QTPOC posters here which I think makes conversations worse. In addition bluesky lacks the fun factor in its content.

This really creeps me out, but I'm conflicted. If it helps her mum feel less alone then there is a bit if good... but I can't imagine conversation with an AI that is there to agree with you and treat you like a customer service worker is going to be particularly stimulating for the brain.

Trump talking about meeting Theodore Roosevelt in his speech (after he was taken to a museum to speak with an AI gen version of him)... Embarrassing but also reminds me of people I come across that treat AI as if it is magic and even those that use it thoughtlessly + uncritically.

It's this that makes me skeptical of the efficacy of letters, statements and petitions directed at no one in particular - as they are at risk of only engaging people who were already on side and not bringing the issues to life.

I like to think that in my very very short time as a volunteer in this space I think about making information as accessible outside of those in the weeds. But this was a reminder that often we are not communicating outwards enough.

I had a reminder at work that by staying in our own bubbles we maybe are not reaching all of our allies. I mentioned the work of @guidersfortrans.bsky.social to a colleague in a random desk yap. She was totally unaware of the situation and was visibly upset and angry that this was happening today.

Thoughts are with the team who made it such a wonderful space whether it was to hot desk with an iced coffee, have a cheeky weekend cocktail or act as the venue we hosted the first two Trans Femmes of Colour community socials.

It's heartbreaking to hear that Damsel Collective in Hoxton a beautiful lesbian cafe/bar has closed its doors. A reminder that if we want spaces like this to exist we have to support them.

Beginning to have the realisation that perhaps bluesky is not really the place to follow UK based QTPOC folk. Perhaps I'll give Threads another go...

You may have noticed I'm trying to be more active on bluesky. I realised that my following list could be a bit larger. So... 👉🏽👈🏽If anyone has any recommended accounts/lists/packs especially queer+ trans POCs or queer/WLW meme accounts send them my way. 💖

I suppose that *does* make sense as woke in the sense I'm using it is from the 1900s and Woking is documented as existing as far back as the early 700s.

It's been really disheartening to see some of the messages and emails in the TSA inbox. Regardless of an individual's desire to risk the deadly heat themselves, it would never be right for us to encourage 1000s of others to do so or put our volunteers at risk.

It was the first time many of us felt able to yap freely on deep intentional topics like how calls to "live unapologetically" by white trans folks, for us, comes with additional baggage of losing our cultural communities and being left as outsiders in white-dominated queer spaces.

The past few days have felt heavy (and not just because of the heat). The EHRC code will devastate so many of our lives and inaction by parliament is a political choice. I have put my thoughts into this Opinion piece for The Guardian here. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

3. To keep the fight going we have to make sure we ensure that good work continues. Supporting, amplifying and funding the trans-led organisations (not specifically TSA) doing good work is so important. Let's see what happens next! Let's keep fighting!

1. Whatever we are facing, we need to remember the power we can have when we fight back. Our community and allies held the code back for a year. We have power if we use it well.

However, I was maybe wrong to assume that our community had lost a lot of the hope and fight that resulted in ~900 attendees, the largest LGBTQ+ Parliamentary lobbying event in British political history. As we anticipate the next iteration of the EHRC code I reflect on the following:
