real talk tho, i'm feeling grateful at the moment. even in moments where i'm feeling gloomy, or in moments where it feels like other things are going to shit, it's been a relief to have vr communities and nice friends to fall back on

thinkin back to a high school friend who was not chill at all about furries and would say stuff like "are these really the kind of people you want to associate yourself with?" years later, the answer is HELL yea, ive never felt so loved and supported just for layin on the floor and saying "woof"

TLDR: Fur Affinity's advertising partners are demanding that they ban adult content. Sciggles and FA want to firmly tell them to go fuck themselves. If they're going to be able to afford to do that, they need the community's help. Pitch in. Keep furry weird. www.furaffinity.net/journal/1143...

open question! where do you like to find new music, especially non-electronic / non DJ-ish music? interested in answers regardless of whether you do music stuff or just listen my music listening pipeline has felt really EDM / DJ focused recently, and I wanna scratch other parts of the music brain

It could be that code generation feels more normalized to me because it's one of the first areas where LLMs began to seem slightly useful, before everything went to absolute shit. Perhaps the first impression imprinted itself on me and changes how I feel abt it. Worth analyzing I guess

030

frosty (moonglow) @frostywoofs.net · 16/09/2026

For personal coding projects I'd really rather only use LLMs as a quick google replacement which I then rigorously fact check, and nothing else. Though if it's for work, especially in this market it feels like I have less personal choice in what I do, whether I am happy about that or not.

140

frosty (moonglow) @frostywoofs.net · 16/09/2026

It feels like my personal line is... somewhere? within coding itself. I don't think I'd really be too bothered by someone using AI as to fill in backend Java boilerplate. But I also don't think I'd ever want to vibe code a shader, that feels real bleugh to me and idk why.

130

frosty (moonglow) @frostywoofs.net · 16/09/2026

for example a lot of the other comments touch on certain aspects already, like "is code art", the shittiness of AI companies themselves, whether using AI worsens your ability to think complexly, etc. much more to mention beyond these aspects as well but not enough characters

130

frosty (moonglow) @frostywoofs.net · 16/09/2026

it kinda hard to summarize my feelings in even a handful of bluesky posts. I seem to have a line somewhere but I'm not sure where that line is. I think I'd have to write out a huge blog post to even decide where I might stand. There's lots of difficult questions...

finally got around to watching the movie Airplane! (1980) last night in VR. I can see why it's a classic, was really fun. ^^ there were a few gags to sit through that were very.... uh, dated. 😭 but the overall pacing and sense of humor was great. i gotta watch some more old comedies

i find it hard to put myself out there with forms of creativity that i don't have confidence in - like, with drawing for example, i know i'm not really that good at it at the moment but on rare occasions i'll overcome that hesitancy if i feel particularly spiteful about AI art generation

another thing i do sometimes for DJable stuff is look up remixes of songs I like. though, with soundcloud it's sometimes a lot of digging to find the really good ones - there's a looooot of mediocre stuff due to the nature of the platform :P

010

frosty (moonglow) @frostywoofs.net · 21/08/2026

For finding stuff to DJ, I tend to start with SoundCloud and see who artists I like are following / commenting on / reposting. Also sometimes I search on Bandcamp for different tags cuz there's some stuff there that isn't on soundcloud. I try to buy on bandcamp but sometimes use beatport if needed

frosty (moonglow) @frostywoofs.net · 20/08/2026

indie, ambient, hip hop, classical, weird obscure experimental shit, jazz, prog metal, whatever the hell interests you - i wanna find all dis stuff!
