The nation’s largest food distributor, Sysco, is buying Restaurant Depot—a deal that could drive up costs for restaurant owners and, ultimately, consumers. I’m calling on the FTC and DOJ to put a pause on this merger and protect independent restaurant owners and the communities they serve.

I'm honored to be named on the @time.com 100 Next 2026 List. This is a reminder of what we can accomplish when we organize and refuse to give up. From safer communities and affordable housing to lowering costs, the work continues — and I’ll never stop fighting for Central Florida!

Three years ago today, we worked with President Biden to create the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. President Trump shut it down on his first day back in office. But we’ve never stopped fighting and we won’t stop until we end gun violence & bring this office back for good.

New whistleblower reports highlight horrific conditions at ICE facilities right here in Florida — in Miramar and Orlando — including black mold, overcrowding, and detainees sleeping on concrete floors or in chains. This is unacceptable. I'm demanding accountability and an end to these abuses.

The United States can’t arrest it's way out of ending homelessness — but that’s exactly what the Cicero Institute has been pushing for. There are proven ways to address this crisis, and cruelty isn’t one of them.

Today my bill, the Post Disaster Protection Act, passed unanimously out of committee, bringing it one step closer to the House floor! If FEMA gets 90 days to review an appeal, disaster survivors deserve 90 days to make their case. Let’s get this across the finish line.

25 years ago, our country experienced an unimaginable tragedy. Nearly 3,000 people never made it home to their families, and countless others have lived with that loss every day since. We remember, we mourn, and we recommit ourselves to building a country where we take care of each other.

Congressional Republicans want to talk about "reverse Robin Hood," saying they're defending working people, but their Big Beautiful Bill cut healthcare for 17 million Americans to give tax breaks to billionaires and corporations. The hypocrisy writes itself.

People experiencing homelessness need homes, not cages. That’s why I introduced the No Homeless Detention Centers Act to make sure federal housing dollars go toward housing people, not locking them away.

Restaurants are already struggling with rising costs, and eliminating competition in food distribution could make the problem worse. @nadler.house.gov and I are calling on the DOJ and FTC to take a hard look at this deal. Families can't afford another hit to their wallets.

I visited Coca-Cola’s manufacturing and distribution facilities right here in Orlando to see how Coke products make it from the factory floor to your fridge! It was great to meet the folks who make it all happen and learn more about how Coke Florida is giving back and supporting our community.

Staycations can be fun, but they shouldn't be the only option. And thanks to Trumpflation, too many families are being priced out of a vacation as gas prices and airfare continue to rise. Families work hard all year. They deserve a summer they can actually enjoy.

Over 495,000 Floridians have lost food assistance since Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" became law a year ago. We should be expanding food assistance — not ripping it away as grocery costs continue to skyrocket.

Haitian families deserve certainty, not fear. While the Supreme Court allowed the Trump Administration to move forward with ending TPS, Congress can still act. The House passed a bipartisan TPS extension for Haiti. Now, the Senate needs to finish the job.

The State Department says Haiti is so dangerous that Americans should leave DNA samples before traveling there. At the same time, the Trump Administration is trying to force 350,000 Haitian TPS holders to return. The hypocrisy is staggering.

Under Trump, more than 50 people have died in immigration detention. At least 21 people have been shot in encounters with ICE agents, and this is the second person killed by ICE in the last week alone. None of this is normal. We need an immediate end to this brutality.
