visual poem 06 | synchronicity This is day 6 in my challenge to make a 1-3 minute cinematic nature vignette every day for 30 days. In this one, I experimented with "double exposures" and masking. Having a lot of fun with this! youtu.be/GwLPnO6K1zg #naturevignette #cinematic #nature #visualpoem

I went for a walk this morning and discovered that the hummingbirds are swarming the bluffs. Migration has already begun here in the central U.S. and there are lots of these tiny amazing creatures everywhere. youtu.be/97ocUsxVriU

Come with me on a daily journey to pay attention and notice things in the natural world around me. For the next 30 days (through October 16), I'll be filming and sharing a 1-3 minute cinematic vignette from my day. youtu.be/ux1qTo66m7Q #visualpoem #cinematicvignette #naturefilm

Here's another short nature-guided meditation from Loess Hills that I made last year. American Bald Eagles and an opossum in the snow. Happy Monday, friends. www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7uK...

A five-minute meditation with winter fog and woodland lake. It's especially mesmerizing to watch the morning sun "burn off" the fog, as the air temperature rises and the fog evaporates. Enjoy! www.youtube.com/watch?v=IM-v...

"Peal" is a term used to describe a high-pitched call that eagles often use to defend feeding sites or warn of danger. Take a break and listen to American Bald Eagles (adult and juvenile) as they feed on frozen fish in this nature film made in Northwest Missouri in Jan '26. youtu.be/hi_3m4YVeR8

The soft sound of snowflakes landing on frozen lake and ground. Woodpeckers carving into trees. Bird squeaks and squawks. Winter wind blowing snow across a woodland landscape. If you need to cool off a bit, literally or metaphorically, this film is for you. youtu.be/uQ_4tjTN78E

Since moving into the van, I've been slowly shifting my work to more "remote" options that allow me to travel more, photographing and filming and generally making more art in the places I love. It's definitely a process. One of those remote options is YouTube (crazy as my Gen X mind thinks it is)...

YouTube just announced that the requirements to monetize a channel are about to get much harder beginning in February 2027. I've got a LONG way to go on my ambient nature film channel. Anyone out there want to help me make the 1,000 subscribers mark before the end of this year?

So, in addition to trying to write a book, I've been trying to motivate myself to actually make and submit a film to a film festival. Talk about imposter syndrome. I've got zero film background. I'm just having fun and learning things the hard way (my preferred method of learning, apparently😂).

If you aren't yet subscribed to my (second) YouTube channel that features ambient and ASMR nature films, you can find it below. I haven't been giving it as much love lately but now that some other work has ended, I'm planning to dive back into it. www.youtube.com/@fromwildpla...
