Wow, that *does* sound tedious.

And I assume he's just monologuing about how Mutants are the Next Stage of Human Evolution or whatever?

Apocalypse is.... an evil ancient mutant or something? That's all I remember.

I once made a joke like "Some people, when given a choice between filet mignon and beef jerky, would eat a bowl full of gravel for the sole purpose of pissing you off."

"Don't build thought experiments" is a lesson More People should learn.

Say what you like about Ozymandias, but at least he actually *managed* to get two vast and trunkless legs of stone standing in the desert.

The name "Project Moon" is incredibly funny for reasons that are hard to explain. (Project Moon is a South Korean videogame developer that has set all of their games in The City, an ultracapitalist dystopian nightmare hellhole)

Presumably the foreign backers were a lot more willing to ask questions such as "How", "Why", and "You want *how much*?"

Some guy with more cocaine than blood in his system tells MBS that they can just genetically modify the humans living in The Great Line to draw sustenance from Green Algae.

I asked this question as a joke, obviously, but it turns out the answer is "Oh my word, no."

It turns out the middle of A Giant Wall of Steel And Glass isn't going to receive a lot of natural light. Whoever could've guessed?

This entire thing is giving me "What if the Tower of Babel were sideways? Would we still be struck down by an outraged god?" energy. (The answer, it seems, is yes)

Yeah, the Cannon Octopus is a much bigger problem, anyway.

I feel like calling it a "bold experiment" is technically true but also overly generous. Like yes, it would be Very Bold if I jumped off a building with a helicopter blade umbrella and tried to fly. It would also be many other things that are not Bold.

It's clear they didn't consult an expert. The sand squids would just use their long range vulcan cannons instead. Or pry the shielding off first with their bladed arms.

Somewhat less charitably, when the narrative itself tries to make Scrimblos out of Deeply Messed Up People, it's a recipe for disaster.

I feel like if you're making a story in which a character Does A Bad Thing, but then you impose a bunch of arbitrary nonsense trying to limit or deny their culpability, that doesn't make your character more sympathetic, it makes your story more annoying.

The hollow dream of the Idea Guy: you don't have to possess any skill, imagination, or creative vision. You just tell the machine what to make, and it'll make it.

The fact the People Complaining About Woke did not stop Complaining About Woke after Trump won just proves that they will never be satisfied, and they will always find something new to hate for stupid reasons.

Because the current administration is a clown show run by antisocial freaks who regard basic human decency with not just indifference but active hostility, and they've psyched themselves into believing they have the eternal mandate of heaven?

Brundle can't believe good things can happen to him, while the actual tech visionaries can't accept bad things happening to them. That's a big difference, I think.

As I've said elsewhere, the Vague Promise of Future Abundance is used to justify Doing Nothing Now. "Who needs social welfare once we get the Infinite Money Printer rolling?"
