this is so important to me too!! there is 0 reason for a part of the world to exist if it does not serve the story i want to tell. mindlessly worldbuilding and then trying to place a story in there is like putting the bread inside the ham....

nothing beats a visit to a botanical garden for flora. oftentimes you'll see things most photographers won't bother to capture- especially when it comes to odd shapes or unusual/atypical, even "ugly" looking aspects of plants. There's several in Germany, but personally i gotta recommend the "Gruga"!

i think pixelart does this much quicker to you than any other medium. when i paint i usually only suggest detail with a few strokes and feel content. with pixels i often end up fussing over single spots for much longer. it might be because there are no real "strokes"... each dot feels monumental.
