I was kindly invited to provide a talk for the entertainment of this year's Passau Summer School for Applied Ethics students. Not sure how delightful the talk was but the way along the Inn River from the hotel to the university is a real pleasure.

Came across an old Chaise Longue and with a bit of upholstery it works fairly well in the blue room. The cat likes it too, btw.

After convincing the flooring person that we are, unfortunately, fairly careless people, we now get the type of lacquer that's usually used for sports floors: 'approved for use on sports floors where basketball is played at competition levels 1 and 2'.

It is recommended to attach stickers to your luggage pieces so they are easier to recognize.

Refurbishment update: apparently floors will take a bit longer, as we had to part ways with out original floor fitter due to a communication breakdown. But on the bright side (literally), almost all the lights are up now, including our iconic ostrich lamps.

There's no kitchen yet and still a week's worth of parquet fitting to do but we nonetheless already moved into out new flat with our flora and fauna. So far, they seem to adjust quite well to the new environment.

The living room of our new flat, packed with numerous boxes of parquet, decorators' supplies, and a few plants; an orange-coloured cat of unique character is lounging on the window sill.

2024 has been an interesting year for me. @piecesofannie.bsky.social (pictured while preparing for New Year's Eve) and I broke up and reconciled again. I re-negotiated my terms of employment to be able to work mainly remotely. I rejected an offer of a permanent position. I got British citizenship.

It has taken a fair amount of time and some bizarre administrative loops (mainly regarding an exemption for dual citizenship from the German government) but here we are.
