Honestly I wish they’d announced this sooner. The 4 extra routes were easy to guess, so why give us the month of uncertainty about if it’d actually happen? Also it’d be nice to know if Maddening is coming— maybe that’ll be free so will be announced and released separately?

I’m not sure that the town parts really add anything at all and when I think about it rationally I’m thinking ‘this is extremely stupid, why do I have to eat 20 meals to recruit someone’. But when I’m playing it I’m like ‘time for 20 more meals’ Actual battles are also good so that helps

There was also an annoying trend on gaming YouTube of ‘Musician Reacts to ___ Game Music’, the gimmick being that the musician says ‘this is great’ and all us JRPG fans or whatever else feel validated. But when one channel has reacted to 20+ obscure JRPGs, at some point you’re just a JRPG channel

You can zoom in on the battlefield and have a normal third-person camera in both 3H and FW, where you can move the character like that, but predictably it sucks

Worth saying that you can change the difficulty in this game. Going from Hard to Normal is a simple menu option, but for some reason going from Normal to Hard requires you to choose ‘Descend again’ on the menu and redo the opening stuff (you keep your progress though)

Every chapter so far I have a lot of turns left before the main battle by the time I’ve done all subquests, explored new bits of the map etc. It feels like they expect to me to do a lot of aimless wandering and I’m not clear if there’s any reason I should bother

I think this is true but also it seems odd to me that the Direct itself felt like it was trying to demonstrate OoT to people who don’t know it— surely the people who sit down to watch a 30m ‘Zelda Direct’ are largely people who have played it already!

In Japanese Byleth is actually spelt slightly differently between the male and female versions, sometimes people used to use those (Bereto and Beresu) in the English fandom but it didn’t catch on

There have been a very small handful of times where they actually changed the stats of mons— some random ones like Masquerain in Sun/Moon IIRC. I don’t think it’s ever been done as actual meta balancing Interestingly the Gen 9 ‘ruin’ legends like Chien-Pao had their stats needed in the day 1 patch!

So long as we know rationally that it’s not worth caring about, I think everyone gets to be privately mad about exactly one bad review! For me it’s Gamespot’s DKC Tropical Freeze review where the reviewer said it has unimaginative level design
