In not-exactly-shocking news, Guinness is shuttering the Halethorpe Open Gate Brewery on Nov. 1. The brewery ceased commercial production back in June 2023, moving brewing of Baltimore Blonde to NY, but kept the taproom open. That apparently wasn't enough of a draw.

If you absolutely have to drink an IPA on National IPA Day, I suggest going pedal to the metal with Sierra Nevada Hoptimum. A triple IPA with a thick, malty body overloaded with stickiest-of-the-icky hops, it's also a hefty 11% ABV. In DC, it's on tap at ChurchKey.
