I'm still mad that they enabled EAC, and they effectively have a monopoly over the VR hangout space. Unfortunately most people couldn't be bothered to give an alternative like Resonite or ChilloutVR a try.

That's so cool! Red Rock is one of my favorite places on earth, I immediately recognized those mountains. I was hiking there a little over a week ago and there was a spot between Ice Box Canyon and Pine Creek that was absolutely FILLED with blooming globemallows.

I made a tail for the first time! It's the one with the gray tip, I'm very happy with how it turned out. The tail above it is one I bought in 2015 and used as reference.

I still think it's funny that Arctic foxes and desert kit foxes (me) are closely related.

Found this fella eating seeds from this dried sunflower. I believe they are a Lesser Goldfinch (Spinus psaltria), but if you ask me I think they're great.

#MFF has been a blast, I haven't attended a full convention like this since 2019. It's been exhausting but I had such a great time being a silly critter, seeing cool people and artwork, and yapping on the skybridge.

So I got a "new" camera (Nikon D850), a big upgrade coming from a D750. I'm trying to get the hang of using it now that I have a week off work. Here are some evening photos from the Corn Creek Visitor Center at the DNWR, and a couple neat creatures from my neighborhood. More info in the alt text.

A view NE from the start of the Birdsong Loop at DNWR. There's a stone-lined path to the left and on the right a large Creosote bush.

The Corn Creek visitors center has this grassy field, it's probably my favorite spot at the center because there are often several different kinds of birds hanging out here.

According to my search, this is a female Variegated Meadowhawk dragonfly. They apparently prey on mosquitos so I'm glad to have them in my area!
