i wrote a short story for the Trans/Queer jam. i guess i'm a writer now? levifrithian.itch.io/keep-it-toge...
Image with the cover and blurb of the short story "Keep It Together!!"

BLURB:

During an adventurous night for the both of them, Trudy ties up her roommate Nubia and drives them out of town into the dark and silent woods of the Virginian countryside. With no other promise other than an awestrucking view, which could mean the exact thing you’re thinking about, Nubia isn’t a hundred percent sure what Trudy is doing. But any worries dissipate after arriving to a luscious view of the starry night, where the moon, planets and constellations shine bright.

Trudy is satisfied and confident after she delivered on her promise. But after Nubia confesses her love to her, she has the reigns taken from her, unsure what to do. I mean, surely, they’re just friends, right? With massive benefits, obviously.

Will Trudy accept her roommate’s confession? Or is there something else standing in the way?

Be Not Afraid is a genuinely awesome book that y'all have to read. Here's a screenshot of my ARC review from October: (note: I think I wrote this review before King questioned the existence of the Epstein files, so... yeah, this review aged like milk lmaoooo)
My Goodreads review of S. Jean's horror novella "Be Not Afraid":

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review. This review doesn't contain any spoilers.

This is the third book I've read from queer writer S. Jean this very year. The first one was the coming-of-age drama Errant Wings and the second one was the space adventure Wherever the Stars Call. Both of them have been great contenders for my favorite book in their respective genres.

S. Jean stuck gold once again with Be Not Afraid, a horror novella this time. We have the usual suspects of S. Jean's writing present: a cast of queer, funny, awkward yet relatable protagonists; prose about lifeforms and objects larger than life that gives enough details to the reader, but not too much to overwhelm; thrilling action that makes you blood run cold and worry if the heroes are gonna survive.

I would usually go into much more detail and directly talk about the events in the book and why I love the protagonists, but I think it would genuinely be better if you read this yourself. (Plus, I don't think spoiling the book in an ARC review is exactly appropriate lmao)

S. Jean is an amazing writer and once I get paperbacks of his books, they will sit proudly on my small bookshelf next to Stephen King's books.

I want to point out that DRM-free digital media is as valid as physical media.Digital media is usually cheaper and better for people with tighter budgets. Buy from @gog.com for games, @itch.io for games AND books and Bandcamp or @ampwall.com for music!
A post from Rien Gray, an indie author: "In 2025, choose physical media:" with a link to their website and a picture of their books in paperback formats.

Rian Gray's post is quoting a similar post.

5) "Cross" by Justice is one of those influential albums I didn't listen to until I got more seriously into music. No wonder it's so influential, it's fucking great. (It's named "Justice" on Bandcamp for some reason, but it's the same album.) etjusticepourtous.bandcamp.com/album/justice
The cover for the disco album "Cross" by Justice.

The cover features an ominous 3D cross in a fuzzy yellow outline against a black background.

4) "PetroDragonic Apocalypse" by King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard guides the listener through a story of an Earth destroyed by climate change and a magical experiement gone wrong, spawning a terrible mythic creature. What an amazing album. kinggizzard.bandcamp.com/album/petrod...
The cover art for the progressive thrash metal album "PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation" by the Australian band "King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard".

"Machines of Consent" by Sophia Turner is disappointing. Good action pieces, decent sex scenes, but the worldbuilding is frustratingly vague and I couldn't get into the leads' romance. I'm interested in the author's next book, but this one ain't it. My review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Book cover for Sophia Turner's debut novel "Machines of Consent".

The book cover features the two protagonists. Jess, a blonde scientist in a lab coat and T-shirt, holding a tablet. She is wearing a glowing necklace around her neck. Roh is a working-class butch dressed in gray overalls.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard is a band that has done everything from synthpop to progressive thrash metal and I love them. Their first jazz rock album and their sixth overall "Quarters!" has the rhythms I'm looking for in any music I listen to. kinggizzard.bandcamp.com/album/quarters
The album art for the jazz rock album "Quarters!" by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The cover has a cartoon-looking style and is split into four quarters (haha, get it):

- crocodiles swimming in a river in the bottom left
- a frog in space, I think? The upper left corner also features the name of the album in gold text
- a fiery-looking landscape in the upper right
- a crashing plane and a pilot who managed to jump out and release his parachute in the bottom right. This corner also features the band's name

"Wherever the Stars Call" by @earlronove.bsky.social is an amazing sci-fi book that is heartwarming for a queer’s soul. Although its social commentary is quite basic, it's a book worth checking out. Check it out here: sjean.carrd.co#whereverthes... My review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
A cover for the sci-fi fantasy book "Wherever the Stars Call" by S. Jean.

The cover features three characters flying a small spaceship, speeding through space. A punk vampire with red hair, greyish eyes and vampire fangs wearing a red coat and a pinstripe T-shirt is looking back, possibly at someone they just escaped. A non-binary character with purple hair and yellow cybernetic eyes is showing a middle finger in the same direction the vampire is looking. A blonde-haired girl with brown eyes adjusting her glasses is riding the ship, presumably to safety.

This is the Wikipedia table of the ten stages of genocide, created by the founding president of Genocide Watch. Stage no. 4? Dehumanization. Y'know, like calling a specific minority a "disease"? Republicans are absolutely aware of what they're trying to accomplish. It's fucking disgusting.
The Wikipedia table for the ten stages of genocide. Stage no. 4 is highlighted - Dehumanization: "One group denies the humanity of the other group. Members of it are equated with animals, vermin, insects, excrement or diseases."
