FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 04/10/2026You know, the one where they lean hard into late 90s fads and ESPN2 references. You know, the network that's conveniently owned by Disney. Max is basically Tony Hawk in the sequel, and it's a little embarrassing to watch. 000
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I think the black community has good reason to embrace this movie. It's a good movie, and if it speaks to them specifically, well, more power to them. Now An Extremely Goofy Movie, on the other hand... 000
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 04/10/2026For what it's worth, I think A Goofy Movie has a lot of broad appeal, with universal themes. Guy wants to bond with his son. Son thinks he's lame and resists, pining for something cooler and less cringe. It's not a perfect film, but it's highly underrated. 010
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Someone on YouTube claimed that black millennials "stole" A Goofy Movie, and I'm just thinking, "I'm pretty sure there was equal give and take there." You put a guy like Powerline in your film, and you're borrowing a lot from black pop culture. 000
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 02/10/2026The elusive Rickman's Fox. "By Grabthar's hammer, what a tasty squirrel." 041
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 01/10/2026On a less contentious note (ahem), here's a picture I abandoned years ago, but just picked back up on a whim. Still not crazy about the background, but you get the general idea. I hope. 071
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Byron in the style of 1990s cable network cartoons. Nothing in particular, just whatever they were showing then. Nicktoons or some crap. 080
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 01/10/2026So no, you get no sympathy from these parts. These are the hens of FurAffinity's twenty-year long hubris finally coming home to roost. 111
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 01/10/2026"I'm running out of money, help!" Funny, Chlamydia Newton-John, you were told the same thing by all the babyfurs you and your site forced out. We needed the reach FurAffinity provided to sell artwork to a broader audience, to pay for little things like, you know... basic survival. 121
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 01/10/2026When you spend years ruling like Caligula, don't be too surprised when your empire falls. (Wait, is this about FurAffinity or America?) 130
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 01/10/2026The current owner of FurAffinity is claiming financial difficulties. I would sympathize, but, yanno. 021
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 29/09/2026More work on the Sonic and Tails picture, with a purple background for better contrast. 042
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 29/09/2026WIP on the Sonic and Tails drawing. They don't look like they work well against that green background... 030
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Did you know that Reginald Vel-Johnson (Carl Winslow) never married, and never had kids? And Dolly Parton was married, but never COULD have kids. 010
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 28/09/2026More work on the pixel art. I flipped Byron's head, and I think it works that way. 1162
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 28/09/202616-bit art isn't some deal you can whip out in a few minutes. This took a couple of hours, and it still doesn't compare to the 16-bit graphics by, say, Capcom or Sega. 000
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Okay, let's try that again. This time with LESS BLURRING. (I hope.) 030
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Better. (I know, it's very similar to my avatar. That pose just comes out of me.) Byron's got one color too many, and it's gonna be Sophie's choice to pick one for the delete pile. 120
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 28/09/2026WIP on Byron in that field. As I've always said, you can eek by with 8-bit art if you're not artistically inclined, but you have to be an excellent artist to make effective 16-bit pixel art. I'm going to have to check out some other Genesis games up close and personal to see how the masters did it. 071
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 28/09/2026The Genesis technically only has two graphics layers, one for foregrounds and one for backgrounds. This is helpful because you can remove tile-based objects in the foreground without destroying tiles in the background, a luxury not afforded by the Master System. 100
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I think I've cribbed together a workable solution. Most everything in Sonic is a checkerboard pattern anyway. And it'll look better when it's populated by sprites. 010
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 28/09/2026The problem I had is that I wanted to do things from an elevated side perspective, just like in that SpongeBob episode, but nothing in the early Sonic games exists in an elevated side view perspective! You have to go up to Sonic 3D Blast for that, and really, who wants that? 010
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 28/09/2026So! Here's an early 16-bit background for a Byron demo I want to make, on... the Sega Genesis! (You probably figured that out already.) It's just ten colors, enough to fit in one of the system's four color palettes with room to spare. That leaves three other palettes for characters. 110
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 27/09/2026www.youtube.com/shorts/nyeAW... So yeah, they've always done this "do a rotten thing, then scream 'I'm being oppressed!' to avoid accountability" routine. This is fine if you're Mojo Jojo, but maybe not so much if you're a sovereign nation.youtube.comFrom 37 years agoDuet with: https://www.tiktok.com/@truth.teller843 Original video: ... 001
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 26/09/2026"Well well, if it isn't Cap'n Crunch! Guess time ran out for you, eh? Look babe, we'd hire you, but then we'd have to pay a kids' hospital in England royalties every time you came onscreen. I don't do charity, bubula. That's a big no-no for archvillains. I'm more on the pain and panic tip." 010
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 26/09/2026"Here, kitty kitty! They'll have to call you Scars now, as in plural. Pretty sure what's left of you is taking the Slip 'n Slide through a hyena's colon. Say 'whoopie!' on the way out! Sorry, babe, we've got a Nemean lion already. We don't need a snooty British repeat." 000
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Someone suggested that Hades from Disney's Hercules should conduct job interviews with other recently deceased villains, and you know what, I would totally be down with that. 630

FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Uncle Grandpa for $15? Ew, no thanks. Talk about mustn't see TV. I saw this at a hospital after my battle with pancreatitis. Just got lucid after days of anesthetic psychosis, woke up to THIS, and wondered if I was still crazy. 000
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Yeah, it's in there. Left left right right up up on the title screen. 110
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Dogs: "Oh gosh, did I hurt you? I'm really, really sorry!" Cats: "Oh, did I hurt you? Whatever. You probably deserved it." 061
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 24/09/2026The Master System is good like that. The machine is just so far ahead of the ColecoVision visually... the 32 color palette, with 16 color sprites (!!!) makes art like this possible. And this is just the tip of the iceberg... there's a game called Razing Core which is a jaw-dropper. 010
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Reaction drawings of Byron for Addends, an abandoned competitive puzzle game featuring numbers instead of blocks. I really like these... I don't know if the game would have worked all that well, but these graphics are a little slice of heaven if I do say so myself. 050
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 24/09/2026It's unfortunate that Brazil didn't embrace the game the way I hoped. I was hoping it would catch on there, given the popularity of the Master System and all the tributes/pandering to Brazilian culture. So it goes. 000
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Image for the Brazilian localization for Whack 'Em Smack 'Em Byrons Remarked, which I may not have included in the finished product. There's a code in the game that replaces the mallet with Monica's rabbit, and this was supposed to appear when you put in the code. 030
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Smash Bros. on the 3DS is probably my favorite game in that series, but man oh geez the foot race segments were a pain. 010

FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 24/09/2026With the new Street Fighter movie, maybe they'll turn this into a Smash Bros. stage. We are due for a new one, aren't we? 010
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 24/09/2026That guy sucks. The rabbit too, but also Jay Leno. 000
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 24/09/2026There was a fire lion Pokemon, which admittedly is pretty neat, but that's gotta be one hell of an uncomfortable puberty. 000
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 24/09/2026On a similar note, here's my reaction to the acting in Legend of Kay. This game has an annoying habit of coming back every few years, like herpes. 020
FriskyWoods @friskywoods.bsky.social · 24/09/2026One of the more risque jokes I did on Miiverse. Yes, the badge actually looked like this. 010
