visual fine art is the most "artsy" medium, in the sense that transgression is the entire point. but its also the medium where critics ignore transgression the hardest. theyll be like "hm yes this line represents renewal" & the piece is called "bomb room" & you just walk in & immediately die

how come stories involving space r automatically scifi. its not like mankind hasnt been staring off in2 space for all of eternity. were literally in space right now

"facing an impossible test of skill & passing" is such a good narrative device, u can just write whatever recklessly messy scenario u want & then just have the antagonist go "well well well... lets strike a deal... if you can solve my THREE RIDDLES i will let you go" & everything resolves perfectly

the futurama opening song is memorable & iconic but it also sounds like the town tune on a speedrunners copy of animal crossing for the nintendo gamecube

i dont totally believe in the idea of games being too "polished"/"smooth"/"refined", i think when ppl say that theyre generally talking abt some kind of drastic artistic decision that they dont have the vocabulary 2 express

i think the US prison system fundamentally changes how ppl think about time. like even just hearing abt ppl getting sentenced for several decades is enough of a shock 2 make time basically worthless. ppl hit 20 & think theyre old cuz the remainder of their life is equivalent 2 a jaywalking charge

looking @ the block jam entries, i do wish ppl wld be more conservative about animations & effects that completely hault the action. these r arcade style games, pausing for more than a split second is rare outside a select few transitional moments (btwn stages/matches, leading up 2 a boss, &c.)
