I have, at last, decided upon the 4 images to grace the fronts of each volume of The Kaerling to be published next year!

I have received a total of 26 submissions of haiku on the theme of ANGEL FISH by Maurizio Brancaleoni so far! 17 haiku writers have already had one, two or three of their submitted haiku accepted for publication here at Pure Haiku in 2027! The deadline is still currently 31st October 2026. But .... if all the 45 available posts for 2027 are filled BEFORE 31st October 2026, I will close the submissions window.

A muffled shriek pierced the heavy sleep of exhaustion that wrapped Erl in dark folds. He jerked upright, the hair on the back of his neck prickling. Darkness encompassed him and he wondered for a moment where he was. Odd, disjointed memories flooded into his mind; the Chandarin and the bactrians in the desert, the hospitable oasis, and the slave city of Rhuminol.
