As an artist, this is honestly one of the biggest reasons I wish more authors would credit and work with human artists. Especially for children’s books, the artwork is such a huge part of the experience, and the artist deserves to be recognized for helping bring that story to life.

I think the meet cute would be such a fun direction, especially with the Jordan scene and the whole bandit disguise situation. At the same time, their intellectual rivals dynamic sounds really interesting to capture too. I’d probably lean toward something that shows that tension between them.

This sounds like a really nice little pixel project especially, with the character being limited to 16×24 and three colours. I can handle the sprite, keep the silhouette readable at such a small scale, and build the animation phases so they feel consistent rather than just adding frames. 1/2
