Farmed salmon from Scotland in the news again today, hard to believe that salmon are considered a healthy choice of food to eat. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...

Humpback whale that was trapped on a salmon farm at the Isle of Skye is now free, but with an increase of these whales visiting Scotland, it's only a question of when not if this happens again.

Wild Atlantic Salmon in Ireland are under threat from farmed salmon. Inter breeding with farmed salmon could wipe them out. afloat.ie/port-news/fi...

The Soil Association and the RSPCA assured scheme are not fit for purpose, neither has an upper limit for mortality, a farmer could lose 99% of their fish and the remaining 1% would still get the "high welfare" rubber stamp. Why?

Pearl Jellyfish wipe out 200,000 salmon, the industry blames rising sea temps. If that's the case isn't it time that the industry called it a day? or do they have some clever tricks on how to reverse climate change? oceanographicmagazine.com/news/200000-...

Lots of papers today covering the report from Scottish parliament committee. It's a shame organisations like the RSPCA & Soil Association can't pay attention to this report, they need to stop certifying farms with high mortality. archive.ph/zvXSb

Salmon farming now banned in Washington after huge escape of salmon from farms in 2017. Meanwhile in Scotland the largest escape in a decade is hidden from the public for 2 years…

Salmon farmers don’t have to report when farmed fish escape during transport! Wild Atlantic salmon are an endangered species and escapes like this could finish them off. archive.ph/uBdaX

Thank you Peter Egan for speaking out about salmon farming.
In any intensive food production industry the animals suffer... fish are suffering the same as livestock or poultry, they suffer in exactly the same way... They get stereotypic behaviour, their immune system is blasted, the fish in these salmon farms have got fish lice all over their
bodies.

Scottish salmon will never be anything other than diseased factory farmed fish who’ve come from appalling conditions.
If it's Scottish then it's FARMED SALMON
Diseased, deformed, suffering, Don't buy it.

Jelly fish are killing salmon in farms right now en masse in Ireland and Norway. The sea's are warming and it's only a question of time before salmon farming just isn't feasible. www.rte.ie/radio/radio1...
Invasion of the Jelly Fish
Clip • 16 Mins • 09 NOV • CountryWide
We got news on Countrywide this week of a very large fish kill in a Salmon Farm in Donegal – that was caused by an inundation of Jellyfish.

Then separately we got more jellyfish related news at completely the other end of the country from Donegal.

Thank you Lord Forsyth for highlighting the lengths the salmon farmers will go to, in an attempt to farm without regulation or oversight.
The amendment was supported by cross-bench, Green and Welsh nationalist peers, together with bishops, and passed by a huge majority. It is typical of the arrogance of Salmon Scotland that they do not acknowledge the huge damage they have done to the wild salmon population.
If they say they have such high standards, how on earth could they be against an amendment which simply requires the Crown Estate to
consider animal welfare and environmental standards?

Astaxanthin is the chemical they put into the feed for farmed salmon, they vary the amount to match the colour requested by the retailer using a SalmoFan, like a paint colour picker. Too much of the chemical can lead to blindness, but don't worry salmon is a miracle food!
You know that lovely pink colour of the salmon we buy in the supermarket? Fake. Like Donald Trump and his phoney
tan. Completely artificial.

Miriam Margolyes on Salmon Farming: Eating this fish is not good for you. Industrial preservatives, trans fats and saturated fats all there as a result of the chicken feathers, beaks, feet, carcasses and additives used to make its breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Huge fines for breaching sea lice limits! No, not in Scotland, this is Norway. Salmon farmers from Scandinavia don’t have to worry about regulations in Scotland.

"Even a company that has itself been in the spotlight for poor fish welfare, and suffered eye-watering mortalities on its farms, has now distanced itself from the [RSPCA] scheme. This is yet another clear signal that the RSPCA Assured scheme is fundamentally not working."

"None of us should be eating salmon right now." Paul Whitehouse
I tend to steer clear of eating farmed salmon. Our precious wild salmon population is under such pressure so I avoid the farmed variety. It particularly annoys me when farmed salmon is sold as 'organic' which is just greenwashing nonsense. Unsuspecting
Londoners buy it not realising it is just as harmful to wild salmon.
None of us should be eating salmon right now.

The salmon farmers love to say that Scotland has some of the highest regulations in the world. Even if it was true, lucky for them no one enforces them. Thank you Feargal Sharkey for speaking out about SEPA
Since my visit to the River Spey last year, the whole of the UK's
population of Atlantic salmon has been placed on IUCN's endangered species list. It now joins the black rhino, mountain gorillas and tigers. I dare you, tell me again how you're doing your job SEPA.

Thank you Chris Packham for highlighting RSPCA & Soil Association betrayal of animals. The farmed salmon that Jamie Moyes filmed should be enough evidence for the entire industry to close down.
Chris Packham: Surely it’s the time for RSPCA and Soil Association to end their association with the environmental and ecological disaster that is caged salmon farming . . . how can you countenance this ?
