Kumi Naidoo, South African human rights activist on Musk's origins: "Silicon Valley’s most influential & most dangerous, oligarchs, emerged from a system built on racial capitalism. Apartheid was the original algorithm. Musk, Thiel, & Sacks didn’t just come from SA, they embody its darkest lessons."

"Musk & Trump are broken people. They're in a lot of pain. They're inflicting it on a lot of people. However, we do need to fight back. And it's clear from examples like #TeslaTakedown and initiatives like #FreeOurFeeds, that when we do, we will win." @alexwinter.com

Meta whistleblower Sarah Wynn-Williams testified in the Senate this week and it did not go well for Mark Zuckerberg: www.msnbc.com/top-stories/...

Among the more eye-popping allegations in her testimony:

That Meta, as part of its pitch to expand Facebook into China, developed censorship technology that could be used by its government.
That Meta censored a Chinese dissident at Chinese officials’ behest.
That Meta has deceived the U.S. Congress about its ongoing operations in China.

Hi! This is answered in our FAQ section at FreeOurFeeds.com!

How does this campaign support the open source, standard ActivityPub?

ActivityPub is a W3C standard that enables interoperability between platforms like Mastodon, Flipboard, Ghost, Threads and others. AT and ActivityPub should not be either/or options. Our vision is that interoperability between open social media platforms is achieved through collaboration. This campaign can organize developer communities, fund product development, support testing that improves bridging and native protocol interoperability.

The Social Web Foundation convenes the network of platforms connected via ActivityPub. SWF's executive director is involved in the #FreeOurFeeds campaign as a custodian and you can read more about in her blog post here.

The raised funds will go toward launching a public interest foundation to support the project, while creating an “independently hosted infrastructure” giving Bluesky users, developers, and researchers access to the content and data posted “no matter what the company decides to do in the future.”
