Well, I've always been interested in philosophy. I've never written it, I don't understand a lot of it, but it's been interesting to me. And it's inspired me too, and informed my poems. Are philosophy and poetry just coming at the same thing from different angles? #poetry #epistemology

I really loved Intermezzo, by Sally Rooney. It was traditional and new all at once, with lots to teach us!

The food in St Louis? They make a hell of a pizza down in Lemay. My buddy Byron took me to Monte Bello. It was grand!

Well, I'd agree with that. But I'd also say that poetry and philosophy and theory aren't doing the same things. Ostensibly, at least.

Matthew Freeman, Poet @freemanpoet.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

Well, I hold the cynical view that many very difficult authors are simply making a job for themselves. They're creating an exclusive space. "Since I'm the only one who understands it, I'm the only one you can hire to explain it."

Matthew Freeman, Poet @freemanpoet.bsky.social · 06/07/2026

I've always liked the Romantic notion of the universe flowing through your head and language coming out. A critic says that's just a lie the poet tells themself. Maybe we'll never really know! #poetrylife

Well darn! After I returned to do a workshop they actually gave me the key to the hospital which once confined me. Hey, a Cinderella story I do believe!
