Honestly never understood the appeal of steelbooks- they're pretty but my first was the one for Halo 3 and most of those had a manufacturing defect that cracked the discs.

Type of energy I'm bringing to work this week:

Dougie Jones looking confused, from Twin Peaks: The Return (2017)

Candie and the girls looking oblivious, from Twin Peaks: The Return (2017)

Child in a camo jacket and hat, standing with one hand on waist and staring at the camera, from Twin Peaks: The Return (2017)

Yeah, I'd say it's worth it- the more important set pieces and story are largely untouched and the gameplay still feels enough like a Halo game.

Halo Campaign Evolved (2026), PlayStation 5 - August It was alright. I felt that the QoL updates and other gameplay modernization detracted from the experience from me. Mostly picked this up because there was no way Halo could be on PlayStation when I was 11.

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1990), MSX2 (played on Switch 2) - August A lot can be said about this one that is also said of the first but with massive jumps in depth and complexity. Great boss design and I appreciated the consolidation of the key cards. A must-play for fans of the later games.

Metal Gear (1987), MSX2 (played on Switch 2) - August It's a wonder how I hadn't sat down and played through this yet. While understandably primitive, it's awe-inspiring to see just how many tropes/concepts commonly attributed to the Solid series actually started here.

Shadows of the Damned Hella Remastered (2024), Xbox Series S - July If you like OG RE4, you'll have a great time here. Great use of color for a 360/PS3 era game. Weapon variety/upgrades are quirky and fun but wish you could keep the old ones after you get the new one.

Little Nightmares II, PlayStation 5 - July Another fun Sunday afternoon. Wish it was co-op but heard mixed things about the co-op in LN3 so we'll see.

Dino Crisis (1999), PlayStation - July Glad I played this one, a lot of great ideas. Story was kinda eh but I enjoyed the characters. My favorite part was when the dinos would enter the room as a surprise like in Animal Crossing 😄

Silent Hill 2 Remake (2024), PlayStation 5 - July This got more right than I thought it would. After awhile combat becomes much more of a minor hindrance than an actual threat. I miss the quirky tonal shifts from the original game but Bloober did understand the overall assignment.

Romeo Is A Dead Man (2026), PC - July The most Suda51 game. Early game is probably the strongest it gets. Enjoyed the combat too but not as much as No More Heroes.

Star Fox (2026), Switch 2 - June Too much to say- a remake of one of my favorite games of all time. Maybe a bit too easy now that the performance is a stable 60 fps. Was cautious about the new script but there's enough new stuff and homages that it complements the original quite nicely. 10/10.

Yoshi & The Mysterious Book (2026), Switch 2 - June Pleasantly surprised with the mellow mood and physics puzzles in this one! Fond memories playing this in bed and there's still so much more to explore after the main game.

Spoilers for a game the same age as me but I'm the only one I've seen to beat the boss who chokes you in Metal Gear 2 (MSX) with the gas mask/grenade combo instead of the RC missiles- that's pretty cool

Sonic R (1998), PC - June I ran a 10K road race on Sunday so I had to. While very lacking in content, it's always fun to get a quick 100% in an hour or so. Controls are flawless on a USB SEGA Genesis 6-button controller.

Sonic Racing Crossworlds- Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (2026), Nintendo Switch 2 - June Fun game and does enough to separate itself from Mario Kart World but doesn't reach the highs of Sonic Racing Transformed. Don't particularly care for the non-SEGA crossovers atm but Eva is right around the corner

Judging by the Yakuza 3 recasting choice and how that was handled, probably gonna have to wait until more is confirmed each time. Whichever case though, can guarantee that SEGA will bizarrely double-down.

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back - N-Sane Trilogy (1997/2018), Nintendo Switch - May Haven't done a replay of this in a while and wanted to play on a handheld. It all still holds up and I really appreciated the puzzle solving for the bonus stages in this go-around.
