In Vegas this week. Somebody screwed up my reservation at the W, so I’m in the Mandalay Bay, but the view is alright.

Me: Great. Flight to Amsterdam is arriving early. Might even get an earlier train to my father’s place. Also me: in a hotel in Amsterdam 12 hours later because the trains didn’t run all day because of snow. Not a proud Dutchman today.

Werner’s last keynote. End of an era.

If this is really Werner’s last re:Invent keynote, then this is a fitting way to wrap up.

A very analog opening to the Werner Vogels closing keynote at re:Invent. String quartet and a newspaper.

Based on my inbox, I’m guessing AWS released the media list for re:Invent yesterday or today. Only problem: at this point, I can’t really fathom taking any additional meetings. #reinvent

Not sure there’ll be much of interest from Sam Altman interviewing Jony Ive, but I’m happy to report they did try to color-coordinate their outfits but didn’t quite hit the mark.

Of course, when Trump makes up a story ('sir!') about a beautiful, perfect baby, it's a blond-haired boy.

Good morning from the Databricks conference, where the press rows are in the back, have Ethernet cables without dongles and no power. Only a three-hour keynote.

Currently at SFO. Waiting to board a United flight. There’s smelly trash from a few days ago on the plane and no catering team to be found to pick it up. Also: no food or drinks expected to be on the plane.

I still remember when Google announced that it would support Kotlin for Android app development. Today, that’s a given, but we’re just building with natural language now anyway, right?

The audience reaction when Google announced the $249/month AI Ultra plan was intersting... Some people are still trying to see if they really saw that price correctly.

My working theory to explain Nvidia’s success is that Jensen has never turned down an invite to a partner conference.

Hanging out in Vegas this week. ServiceNow Knowledge 2025. It’s my first time and I don’t realize how many people would be here. Chances are, there’ll be AI agents, too.

Right side of my favorite IEMs suddenly stopped working. I have neither the time nor energy for this rabbit hole. There’s some new keyboard switches I still have to lube, after all.

One of the key messages Google Cloud is clearly trying to land today is that, yes, if you’re an enterprise, you can really get value out of AI. (And create some FOMO in the process, of course)

Now they’re trying to blame Goldberg, which is insane. But the funniest part here is that I think they tried to explain to Trump what Signal is. Of course it didn’t get through to him at all. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Nvidia’s quantum day was interesting. Maybe Jensen wasn’t the best moderator, but fun to see pretty much everyone show up for this (hard to say no to Nvidia, though, I guess).

Jensen apologized for tanking quantum stocks. “I didn’t know they were public.” Basically says he set this session with quantum CEOs up because of that.

Thursday night of #reinvent. Vegas is already healing. Bachelorette parties have moved in. Cowboys are getting ready for the rodeo. Restaurants have seating.
