Y'all may not believe this because it sounds crazy, but in one of the cafes at Epcot at Disney World they have multiple baumkuchen bakes going on all day and it's on display. It's not in the Germany or Japan section, it's in the innovations section because of the specialized oven.

No idea, but if you know about iconography, there’s some borderline blasphemy going on there. They made the “sun” look like a nimbus because they probably thought it “looked Slavic.” The center is aligned with the nose in an icon and that’s fairly close.

The level of burnout I’m at: I didn’t even try to get LeConte Lodge reservations for next year. It’s not that I missed the deadline (which I did,) it’s that I forgot that the LeConte Lodge process even exists. Even though I wear one of the “I hiked it” shirts from different years like once a week.

I’d like to hear a native Frisian speaker sometime. The edges of languages are cool. I have a hard time getting across to people here in the US that Scots is a separate Germanic language and not just an accent. There are “accent-y” things about it, but it’s a language.
