Arrival's always been one of my favorite films. Takes on a totally different context in this post-LLM world we live in. How long until humans are able to start thinking in vectors instead of timelines?

Felt like ruining my mood today so I opened the comment section on a LinkedIn post. Is responding to your own comment and tagging yourself a strategy to boost engagement/visibility? Or is it just an agentic pattern. Instead of rewarding patterns like this, shouldn't LinkedIn be punishing it?
Two linked in comments where the commenter responds to their original comment by tagging themselves. What they're saying is irrelevant bullshit because they're just commenting to boost their engagement metrics.

I never played SMW growing up, but I've been running Kaizo livestreams in the background lately and they've been great. Decided to give one a shot, and last night I beat my first Kaizo level! Maybe next I'll beat a level from a game without "newbie" in the title.
the home screen for snes rom hack newbie kaizo world, there are mario mountains and sky, title reads "newbie kaizo world" in mario font, colophon reads" 2021 - azula16."

Fun & simple way to fade in elements on render (i.e. error states).
LANGUAGE: CSS

.fade-in-example {
  opacity: 1;
  transition: opacity 150ms ease;

  @starting-style {
    opacity: 0;
  }
}

I'm not the biggest fan of shadcn/ui, but little CSS patterns and attentions to detail like this are very clever.

Heard @billsimmons.bsky.social praise the chowder at Chatham Bars Inn on his pod awhile back, finally got a chance to try it for myself. Bill was right (as usual), best chowder I've had in 20 years of coming to the Cape.

came out of design retirement for a night to create a potential t-shirt print for my shuffleboard team. inspired by a teammate's comment about being the "bad boys" of the league... maybe i redesign the detroit pistons bad boys logo next season?
three prints with white, black, gold backgrounds. meant to emulate a pack of marlboro reds, the image reads the team name "big money big prizes i love it", the name and address of the shuffleboard club and some shuffleboard discs as accents

wait did google just launch a feature that is useful and also not a pure profit play? i don't believe it.
a google screenshot with the query "thumbs up emoji". underneath, before any results, is an interactive box with a thumbs up and thumbs down emoji, and a button for each to copy them to clipboard.

extremely skeptical of course, but i don't hate the idea of chrome bringing AI directly to dev tools to help with the debugging process.

RIP to the Prince of Darkness. I didn't learn about Black Sabbath until my early 20's. Since then they've been one of the most influential bands in my life, and I truly believe one of the most influential bands of all time. Ozzy was polarizing, reckless, often unhinged, but he was a kind soul.

how bad does your AI have to be to not even copy 1:1 the phrase i just provided??
a google gemini search result for a fictional phrase "early to sleep and the bugs don't creep meaning". AI's response is: "The saying "early to bed, the bugs don't creep" is a proverb encouraging an early bedtime to avoid being bothered by nocturnal insects like bugs or other creepy crawlies. It's a lighthearted way of suggesting that getting to bed early will prevent disturbances from such creatures."

I just remembered iPhone accessibility settings includes background sounds! White noise, rain, fire, etc. In the past when I've been very stressed, ambient noise has been a great tool to help balance out. Listening to rain on this rainy day.

An extremely over-simplified example and a very basic use case, but it's ✨ B E A U T I F U L ✨
three lines of CSS illustrating the power of the new attribute function. using a data attribute selector "color", then setting a variable to the value of that attribute, we can finally set the CSS value color of the element leveraging the data attribute and the CSS variable. i'm sure that all makes sense.

The visual heirarchy on this sign is wild, especially when read from a distance.
A bathroom sign that reads "please do not flush napkins and sanitary products down toilet", but "do not flush" is much bolder than the other words.

I beat a pro! Mark Megalli is currently ranked 45th on Galaxy and 397th in the world. One blunder caused me to lose the error battle, a couple crucial doubles helped me win the match. More important than the win, got a "well played!" emote from Mark at the end. Most important, no cube mistakes.

any insight on how this will affect color tokens' intellisense? love the direction v4 is going, but also love my little color swatches! unfortunately not currently possible with css vars.
vscode intellisense results for some tailwind styles. the css variables do not have a square displaying their color value as a swatch, while traditional tailwind variables do.

i first thought component libraries were best served with a fork & spoon. then i thought maybe a spork would be best. eventually i figured "why not all three?". the truth is it all depends on the meal being served. (this post was inspired by my leftover general tso's).
