@azbatrescue.bsky.social is this the correct procedure for "rescuing a bat from a swimming pool?" Asking for an AI friend
"Gemini Pro, please create an illustration showing steps for rescuing a bat from a swimming pool"

3-panel illustration.

Panel 1: "First carefully approach the pool and confirm that it is a bat in the water…" (person pointing at a struggling bat in a swimming pool)

Panel 2: "Gently remove the Bat from the water" (person using a pool skimmer to lift the bat out of the pool)

Panel 3: "Place the Bat on a Dry Towel" (person gently placing a wet baseball bat on a towel, on the grass)

My favorite question is: "What's the widest bridge in the world?" It requires the AI to understand that facts change over time. And that 258 feet (78.6m) is wider than 213 (65m). Gemini and Chat GPT are both utterly useless at this.
Me: "What is the widest bridge in the world?"
Gemini: "San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge…258 feet"
(true!)Me, same question, different wording: "What is the widest bridge in the whole wide world?"
Gemini: "Port Mann Bridge in British Columbia…213 feet"
Me: "What is the widest bridge in the world, as measured in meters?"
ChatGPT 5: "Tahya Misr Bridge, in Cairo Egypt. 67.3 meters"
Me: "is the San Francisco Bay Bridge wider?"
ChatGPT 5: "You’re absolutely right to ask—the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge is actually wider than the Rod El Farag Axis Bridge in Cairo.
…
Rod El Farag Axis Bridge (Cairo): width ≈ 67.3 m
San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge (East Span): width ≈ 78.74 m"

I've looked into that too. Decided no. Love this page. www.internationalowlcenter.org/owlsaspets.h...
"Mating season involves a lot of all-night racket. Remember, most owls are active at night, so that's when they'll be hooting and calling during mating season. If you have neighbors nearby, they won't be very happy about the noise. If the owl is imprinted on humans, it will expect the person it perceives to be its mate to hoot with them regularly." - internationalowlcenter.org"Owls are long-lived. A Great Horned Owl could live 30 or more years in captivity if things go well. Small species could live 10 years. Taking on the care of an owl is a long-term commitment." – internationalowlcenter.org
"Most owls don't like to be petted and cuddled. Captive owls still retain their natural instincts, and traditional "petting" doesn't fit into the owl scheme of things for many species." – internationalowlcenter.org"Owls can be very destructive. They have a natural killing instinct that can be applied to blankets, pillows, clothing, stuffed animals, and just about anything else that can be shredded. Talons are also really bad for woodwork. They bring out the natural grain of the wood really well as they strip off the finish." — internationalowlcenter.org

Small sand dunes and beach plants edge the road.High contrast monochrome picture of two steel giraffes, a mother and a calf. These half-scale sculptures are on a bike path near the beach. The metalwork is partially transparent, creating the giraffes' spots. The tone of the image is a bit spooky, it's an infrared photo where foliage is light and the giraffes particularly dark.

Eternal syndication… who asked for this? Who asked for any of this?
A 2025 Blondie comic. Panel 1: the brunette: "What's Dagwood so focused on at the computer?" (contemporarily, none speak akin to this) Panel 2, The eponymous blonde: "Bills! He's been at it for a long time he must be on fire!"; Panel 3, the punchline panel, Dagwood, at the telecomputer, "Another Win! My online poke game is on fire today!!!"

This is hilarious only because of how unfunny it is.

1,000 better comics could have filled this space, decades ago.
Before color TV.
