Catching this late, but Holding Back the Years is pretty terrible. For me it's a tie between two oldies: 'Sugar Sugar' by The Archies and 'Child in Time' by Deep Purple.

Voodoo. The answer to your question is voodoo--and it might be Seattle's best hope.

I had trouble getting into the 'dolls. Even Television didn't do a lot for me as a kid. Ramones, Dead Boys, and oddly enough, Blondie, were my go-to New York bands from the 70's. I rediscovered bands like NYD in my 30's and wondered why I didn't get into them sooner.

I don't think you realize that I'm saying the same thing! I expect the A's to spend more. I was just pointing out that the gap between the two clubs' payroll is still significant. Right now, about 85 million.

They're not going to be in Vegas until 2028, but Fischer knows there's potential to do better with attendance during the transition. They have to field a respectable team. I expect them to add more, too.

Not quite. It was around 38m. It's now 53.5m with Severino (Cot's). And they'll probably add more, but the gap between them and the Mariners is a large one.

This is just another suggestion by a national journalist who doesn't understand the needs and habits of the Mariners.

The question is what they do with the profit. They used to put it back into the organization, as many ownership groups do. If that's still the case, I'd like to know more details.

When I make it here, I use fresh rosemary, sage, garlic, onion, celery, apple, salt, and vegetable broth (with salt) with french bread. That reminds me, it's easy to make a good vegan brown gravy with flour, soy sauce and soy milk.

I forgot it was Thanksgiving there until about 14h. I never tried to do gluten-free stuffing, but stuffing was always my favorite. Brazilian-vegan dishes often use French bread and I can tell you it works well for stuffing. Anyway, bon appétit!

That was a patchily amusing review. In all honesty, when critics overreach with adjectives like that to present themselves as some kind of creative authority, it tells me they're threatened (insecure), have no sense of humor, and that I should definitely check it out.

I agree. Was that from Jude? I don't think they have, or will have, only 16m to address 3B, 2B, DH, two or three bench spots, plus a reliever or three. They moved 110+ million last offseason. Surely they can move the Mitches, but they should have more flexibility, regardless.

I think it's the opposite. I'd be a little surprised if they were willing to pay Rojas 4-5m, and it's possible they'll non-tender him and try to negotiate a better deal. But keeping Rojas would tell me he's going to platoon third. There are cheaper options for second.

Wait till you see Haniger's 'Savant profile. I recommend having a strong drink in hand before viewing.

This made me curious what the oldest photo of a show I had was, and it turned out to be Morrisey in Rio de Janeiro in 2018.

I'd be really surprised if he gets moved. He showed he can hit at T-Mobile and his selective approach wears down opponents' pitching. Nobody puts much value on P/PA, but that was part of the ol' OVP Tim Bogar implemented.

Frankensteve @frankensteven.bsky.social · 17/11/2024

If they stick around, it would suggest that a short-term solution wasn't there, that Seattle won't likely add future commitments and are inclined to start another rebuild sooner rather than later. But it's hard for me to believe they could stick with mostly the same cast and expect better results.

Frankensteve @frankensteven.bsky.social · 17/11/2024

They would likely have to eat salary or absorb a larger contract to move either of the Mitches. But it doesn't really make sense to have 28m committed to 2 roster spots for players that wouldn't get many PAs, especially for a team that wants to contend & needs production from all 26 players.

I'll believe it when I see it. Nobody has been all talk and no action more than Biden. Fingers crossed 🤞

Frankensteve @frankensteven.bsky.social · 17/11/2024

I would be surprised if the Mitches return. Jerry & Justin moved a lot more salary last offseason. It's arguably more important to do so this year, if only for the roster spots. Rojas as a true utility player, rather than the strong side of a platoon, would be fine . But at 4-5m?

Frankensteve @frankensteven.bsky.social · 16/11/2024

The Seattle Mariners require six new (good) position players: A third baseman, second baseman, DH, backup catcher, and two utility fielders. That means no Haniger, Garver, Rojas, Rivas, Bliss, or Canzone on the active roster. I'm sorry if this offends anyone.
