This captures THE critical change in our politics. Nixon committed crimes in pursuit of political power, but their discovery horrified the nation, which expelled him from WH. Trump is both autocrat & greedy con man. All in plain sight. His party doesn't care. Moral collapse may not be fixable.

I dislike piling on NYT which for all its faults is now an indispensable natl institution. BUT weekly books section has become pathetic. It reviews ever fewer books & those mostly w/ established authors or an obvious lefty tilt. With all $$ they make, they can't hire a few book reviewers?

At least worth mentioning that Trump's pardon "process" is departure from procedure established in 1858 whereby pardon applications passed thru pardon clerk (later pardon atty) & were always reviewed by AG, Dep AG, or Ass AG before going to WH. Again, Blanche abandons responsibilities of his office
