Dust-DN webinar featuring Prof. Jasper F. Kok (UCLA) on “The overlooked radiative forcing of desert dust.” The presentation explored changes in atmospheric dust since pre-industrial times, representation in climate models, and impacts on climate through direct radiative forcing, including longwave effects. The session brought together over 70 participants and fostered active scientific discussion. The Dust-DN team expresses appreciation to Prof. Kok for his contribution.

Huge Saharan dust plume over Europe yesterday and today! My colleague Peter Hill at ECMWF used EarthCARE lidar retrievals to evaluate CAMS forecasts of extinction coefficient, showing that the vertical structure and optical depth of the plume were well captured both yesterday at 01.44 UTC... (1/3)
