Ajayi 3rd bench most weeks for me. I often want to play him (especially against Everton next GW) but I can never justify dropping anyone else to start him. Looks like the carnage of the international break will solve that problem for me though

IMHO, if they deduct points from or relegate City I’m fine with it. Vacating titles has always seemed to me a ridiculous and futile thing to do though. We all saw them win those. Improprieties or not, they were the best team I’ve seen for a generation. You can’t memory hole stuff like that

Honey Don’t (2025) This wants so hard to be a feminist reboot of Sam Spade. I like feminism, I like Sam Spade. This succeeds at neither. The jokes are flat,and the characters are one dimensional caricatures, all seemingly acting in a different movie at the same time. Other than that, I loved it

A Desert (2025) The first 40 minutes of this were great. Slow burn psychological horror. The middle act dragged, and the last 20 minutes decided it was going to become surrealist metaphor even though nothing before it even hinted at it. Hate films that aren’t true to the worlds they build.

Local Hero (1983) I just didn’t feel much from this. I get it’s kind of an ode/elegy to small town village life and community, but if that life is so great, why does everyone in this film want to take the money and run? Some nice scenery of the Scottish coast but otherwise a bit dull

Teenage Sex and death at Camp Miasma (2026) Works best when it leans into its campier elements and satire of slasher films. Less so when it gets didactic and ham fisted about sex and gender. Schoenbrun is a fantastic director and this is beautiful to look at but this a common thread in their work

One of the odd quirks of American sports is how much athletes thank God repeatedly in post game interviews after a win. As if God likes the people who believe in him on your team better than the people who do on the other team. Also, dropping F-bombs in said interviews literally seconds later

I feel like nearly 5GWs into the season, I have some blind spots I need to address. Namely Pascal Gross and the promoted teams. He won’t keep up this pace but I need to get over not having him because everyone else does. Hull might be good, Ipswich might be ok, and Coventry might not be awful

Drunken Angel (1948) It’s Kurosawa directing Toshiro Mifune and Takashi Shimura so you know it’s going to be good going in. Then you realize how incredibly young, nattily attired and handsome a young Mifune looked back in the day. Even when his character is racked with TB, he’s still fire on screen🔥

My instincts are to make transfers (hits) after two rotten GWs but I look at this team and struggle with who I’d drop. Wissa in a heartbeat if he didn’t have Hull and Coventry in his next two. Seems silly to lose him now when these 2 fixtures were the whole reason for having him in the first place

Punishment Room (1956) This was a rough watch. Pure dark and unfiltered nihilism from start to finish and one of the darker entries in the large 1950s Japanese sub genre of “Sun Tribe” films about juvenile delinquents. As an Ayako Wakao fan, I hate what Ichikawa Kon does to her here #filmsky

Woman of Tokyo (1933) Silent film only 44 minutes long but packs a punch thanks to Ozu’s trademark camera angles and symbolism. Great performance as well from Yoshiko Okada. If you’ve never heard about her I urge you to check out her wiki page. She lived an insane, almost unbelievable life.

Nearly doubled my rank to 1.8m and a 17 point red arrow. I remember a time in FPL when 66 points was pretty good but this was all Raya and captaining Isak. Still think the team is good, just need to curb my instincts for having fun and choose boring captains. The Defcon Duds B team win this round

Was only going to use one of my 2 FTs but White to Konsa makes too much sense not to do now. Was going to bring him in next GW anyway, adds the 0.1, and gives myself 1.5m in the bank to use when I need to jump on and off someone. Also probably pretty safe until December at the earliest

I also find it ironic that FPL thought they needed to make Haaland 15.5m to ostensibly not have players over 70% owned and yet they take a guy who scored 15 goals and 9 assists last season and price him at 7.5m. Who is now…over 70% owned 🤔

All things considered, 9 points from Haaland when he was TC from 2 million people is a pretty decent outcome for the non-owners. Still have Bruno, Saka, Calafiori, Palmer and JP to play so it feels like I could even make up that -10 red arrow if things break right. And a TC in my back pocket.

The Cherki experience was fun for a week. He’s an explosive player and a joy to watch but I can’t deal with the chaos around him starting or not and getting hooked at 60 minutes in matches. Steady Eddie 90 minute man Morgan Rogers next up.

Drop (2025) Why do I do this to myself? Got a thing about films that try to build dramatic tension or high stake choices but then basically say none of it matters when the main characters are beaten, bludgeoned and shot but just pop back up with a one liner. Also, over the smartphone movie thing

Barring anything crazy, this is how GW3 WC is going to shake out for me. No Haaland is terrifying but think my front 7 stacks up against anyone. Pretty good defense as well with double Arsenal in most weeks. Haaland will score a lot of goals, I’m gambling that my attack can match him. Good luck all!

Feels like this WC is a big directional swing for me. If I go left, I’m probably not going to Haaland anytime soon. If I go right I feel like my overall depth is weak and things mostly depend on Bruno and Haaland hauling. But it would also probably make my GWs fairly boring but stable. 🤷‍♂️

Unlikely I end up here on my WC but as far as Haaland/Bruno/Palmer teams go, this is actually pretty tempting. Needs some work around the edges but if I were the kind of FPL manager who just wants to hold steady around my 400k rank, this is a good way to do it.
