I feel you. Covid wrecked a lot of us. I feel trapped in this job and it affects my personal life and mental health. I was one of those people who loved my work before so I never “worked” and now I’m just miserable M-F. Like you, I try to move the conversation w/out creating suspicion.

Mine is so boring too. It’s stressful and boring. I miss my pre covid work life. I wish we could normalize not asking new people about their job.

I realized I’ve avoided new social situations, because I dread the “what do u do” question. I need local friends. I have a job, my Covid job. I detest it. I’ve been trying to get out for 6 yrs. Due to the job stress and anxiety, I don’t want to talk about it. Anyone relate? How do you handle it?
