The big roadblock is that most Americans don't use Al chatbots, let alone agents.
• Back in February, Pew found that 51% avoided using Al chatbots entirely. Of those people, 79% who didn't use chatbots cited privacy concerns and 67% were unlikely to use a chatbot in the next year.
The even bigger problem: Agents only become truly useful when people hand them access to their digital lives — and people really don't want to.
• A huge international Thales poll this year found broad pushback against the core uses of agents — only 13% of respondents would let an
"Al helper" read their emails, 11% would let one rebook travel and just 7% would let it move money between bank accounts.
• Even shopping is a no-go: 56% told YouGov they wouldn't let an agent shop for them at all.
Only 10% trust one with more than $25
without approval.

In Great Companions, Max Eastman relates an interesting story about Millay that, if true, reveals something of her attitude about her own sexuality.
According to Eastman, while at a cocktail party Millay discussed her recurrent headaches with a psychologist. He asked her, "I wonder if it has ever occurred to you that you might perhaps, although you are hardly conscious of it, have an occasional impulse toward a person of your own sex?" She responded,
"Oh, you mean I'm homosexual! Of course I am, and heterosexual, too, but what's that got to do with my headache?"

One of the first agencies the Trump administration attempted to dismantle is the
U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). While at first it was unclear why Musk and DOGE had their sights set on eliminating an agency focused on foreign aid, recent reports have shed light on Musk's connection with USAID. In May 2024, the USAID inspector general announced it was investigating USAID's relationship with Starlink (a subsidiary of SpaceX), which it had paid to provide internet services to Ukraine civilians. While the details of the investigation are not public, there is evidence Russia had access to Starlink, which was not supposed to be possible. However, the investigation will likely be dropped as the Trump administration moves forward with shutting down USAID.

My current favorite daily driver disposable is the Draeger X-plore 1950 N95 in small; very breathable, keeps its shape, and the elastic being one loop is very convenient for hanging around a neck to eat. Pricier than Auras or V-flexes but worth it to me for something I'm wearing for long periods.

(The Church has a trademark on the word Mormon.) "The top line looks positive and appealing with blonde, beautiful girls that are married and having babies. Maybe they're emerging from the water in skintight white, wet dresses" - as the Mormon Wives do in the show's intro sequence — "but a lot of them have bellies and they're married and they're having kids. It's sexy Norman Rockwell, but it's still Norman Rockwell." The show is so seductive in its depiction of the life of a Mormon mom, she says, "I think to myself, Was it all so bad?"

Her daughter has started to become an influencer herself. Gay has complicated feelings about this. "She has her own apartment in Miami, and she does TikToks where she opens her Keurig and does it all," Gay tells me back in the car. "The other day, she said she was in her 'tradwife era' And I was like, 'What?! This is the thing I tried to get away from!'" She bangs on the steering wheel for emphasis.
Gay's mother was the ultimate worthy Mormon woman before any of it was monetizable:
"She was an artist. She walked in snow in the blizzard of '82 to pull home a dollhouse that she had hidden at a friend's house for Christmas so that we six kids wouldn't find it. Her friends were doing the same thing. And I wasn't a mom, so I didn't understand the backbreaking work behind that type of curation."
