Things got cold and wet super fast this year, so I'm hoping for a few more good days in October to get through the batch of client castings remaining for the projects to be completed over fall and winter. I'm sure there's more but that's all I can remember right now :'3

Got a coyote tail I wasn't happy with the fur choices I made so I'm being a little bit indecisive with the new choice :'3 Got the furs for the new maned wolf handpaws sewn. Uhh, looks like the eye redos are all good, so trying to get them and jawsets installed this week. Waiting for casting weather.

Quick update: fur prep and sewing mostly. Had to seamrip and redo a set with complicated markings and give a refresher lesson on seam technique, which has eaten a few days. Went through every fur on the bus and grabbed a couple of furs I mistakenly put in storage to prep out more paws this week.

Just had our battery charger fail on us (the fan is toasted) so we'll have to find $60 to replace it ASAP! Anyone need a new sewing pattern? Our paw and tail patterns are pay what you can! ko-fi.com/foxfirefantasy

Wondering why we'd have to close the shop for castings for the season? It's like clockwork after the equinox! 🌲🍃🌧️

It's given me a lot of grief over the past few years, but now I keep an eye on the barometer when scheduling casting sessions along with the humidity and temperatures. Just wish I could have figured it out sooner lol!

In practice it can change the volume of the resin and silicone by up to 10% depending on the conditions when the formula was originally written (a formula written on a low pressure day ends up not filling the molds enough on a high pressure day). It's taken five+ years of experiments to learn this!

111

It's not just the rain, it's also the temperature and the barometric pressure swings! We already run a dehumidifier (and a 3 stage compressor air dryer) but I can't do much about the atmosphere itself. Everything from resin to foam is affected by the barometer moving (it affects volume formulas!)

110

Mold looks good, but I might have to use a different material for castings due to a brutal demolding process I don't think a rigid material is going to survive intact, but the mold looks good!

060

Once the rain comes we get really bad results, so I have to prioritize the castings right now. Had some mold failures/remakes and it's pushed back my paw sewing schedule, and the last few projects have required edits to get the look just right. Art is an iterative process sometimes!

Quick update: just finished pouring one of the biggest silicone molds I've ever done, fingers crossed! Next up is a new batch of pawpad/hoof sculpts I'm trying to get through before the season ends. Big goal is to get the rest of the client castings done with the last good days of casting weather!

Have I ever got news for you!!

Going through some big things behind the scenes, so please be patient with me for the next week or so! Also, I will be going by the name Love from this point forward, so please treat my previous name as a deadname from this point forward! Thanks so much 🤍

Pushed myself hard and got the fulfillment done tonight, really proud of me! Feels like an accomplishment, and a real improvement! Here's hoping to carry forward with this positive wind of change 🤍

The shop will get a pre-made parts/B-grade drop once we get things sorted and graded, because we have a ton of extra stuff and we need the space! I will be working on adding the tail listings for the fall/winter season in the next few days, but I'm behind on my sewing so I need to get to it :3

I thought about that but for paws I usually like to have a sitting pose for getting both sets in the same framing, and I just haven't seen anywhere I can do that! I also did a skatepark with graffiti for a stylized markings tiger tail in the same mindset but can't find the right colors this time :'3

Did a bunch of castings, fur prep, and some shipping! Got the sculpts ready for the remold! Didn't fall asleep in the middle of the day because of exhaustion!

Yeah that's the best idea I think!
